There are other shows I found good and that hooked me, Battlestar Galactica is an awesome intelligent show, House MD, 6 feet under, yet not as varied, open and experimental, or bold. I have never seen something with such qualities again, and it would have to be compared in function of the evolution of material/effects and maybe budgets given to tv shows nowadays. But it's not just about money, look at S1. I'm sure the shows I cited above were made by smart and creative people, to me it's still the step underneath. Except maybe BSG, not that directly bold touching government issues and ten yeaes later for effects...

I came to this subforum specifically hoping to find this exact thread!

One of the funniest dialogue in the beginning. Mulder is shameless. But they're both funny.

Is Detour the one with Mulder's "frogs..." line?

I admit I've only skim read the thread because I haven't seen any of the new series yet and don't even want to form an opinion in advance.

One of my favourite episodes doesn't seem to be widely well rated - Milagro. I generally like the few really Scully-centred episodes (before series 8, anyway). Without thinking about it too long, I like ones like Jose Chung's 'From Outer Space' , Leonard Betts, Drive, and I expected to hate X-Cops but completely loved it. I thought the standard of everyone's acting was miles better than in the normal filming style.
I think X-Files fans can probably be divided into two main camps based on: did you like Post-Modern Prometheus (the Frankenstein/Cher one) or not? It seems like a big divider of opinion. (I'm the kind who really didn't like it. But now I think back about it, perhaps I was just in a bad mood or something)

The question I'm just as interested in is the opposite one - which do you think is the absolute worst episode? There are some serious contenders for me...

That's how you divide fans. Stash of pot?

You said Mulder, Die hand die verletzt would be my frogs guess. In detour it's deadpanary about the cockroach of Cincinnaty and the invisible man.

Not into the shows you mentionned.
Sci-fi would be more Battlestar Galactica 2004 for me, this smart, this complex, super effects (serving the story not filling in the scenaristic emptiness). But I still don't get why the x files is classified as sci-fi, it's a small part of it. You can't put it in a box, that's what I like.

I passed by, actually, because now I have a new phone I wanted to download the x fools (spoof - if they call it so - of the x files), and someone (FOX?) had the files removed. Probably not Chris Carter, because 1) he's not a moron = it's free, fun advertising, the kind of things that would hook up that kind of people to watch the show. 2) he's not like that, and for free speech and truth. 3) he likes these offbeat funny stuff.

Who's the moron who shut it it down? For f**k's sake it's harmless. Bring it on.
