it was the first non-filmed [digitally recorded] movie I saw, so that was a novelty. it was the first ultra hi=definition presentation I watched. I woulda liked it better if it was higher frame rate than 24, but as it was it still had markedly less judder than regular 35mm film which repeats 2 frames each film handling cycle.

it was "junk food" entertainment, eye candy, good way to pass an otherwise unremarkable afternoon. but Proust it was not.

Ya, it didn't wow me either.

I dunno if this really fits the discussion, but Halo 2: Anniversary had a really good framerate for its cutscenes. :o

I saw The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug in 3D HFR and I didn't go knowing it was HFR. I found out afterwords. However, I noticed a difference, how sharp details were. I liked it.

I have been aware of the possiblity of HRF for many decades. There is a book by Lenny Lipton, written in the '80s that discuss increasing film's frame rate for a clearer, steadier picture. He wrote several books, including one on 3D, but I do not remember the name of the book that discussing increasing the frame rate. It is not the whole book, but a section of it.

I like silent films shown at their intended speed. They have a feel to them that reflects the lower frame rate, and makes it more magical. Still I would love to see a movie filmed in IMax 3D on a flat screen. There is such a theater about an hour from where I live. I need to familiarize myself with the route.

Trivia: Lenny Lipton is one of the engineers behind Real3D, and he wrote Puff the Magic Dragon.

i'd like to see "billy lynn's long halftime walk" in either 120 frames or 60 frames per second, 2D or 3D, somewhere.
