Reality Shows being made for people with no brain power. But yet they were probably made by those with the same condition. I'll contract that..

...They are!

Reality shows are a lot cheaper than sitcoms and drama. Especially sitcoms. I mean why do these actors need so much money per episode nowadays especially when comedy is dilluting. Look at TV Lineups nowadays. Sitcoms are a weakened genre on Network TV nowadays. Remember "Must see TV" Thursday? Despite a few acclaimed shows, the ratings don't calculate as much as they used to.

Drama's I expect to be a lot more money since they are usually an hour long and require a lot more on location filming than sitcoms.

But yet dramas are now satuarated with the same genre. Hospital, Court room, Forensics and Autopsy, and so on. Actually they've been the same type for years now. Just mixed with various styles change in they way they are presented and so forth.
I can't really explain that at this time though.

But I think overall the novelty and hype surrounding programming nowadays fades out quicker than before.

Yes I hate reality shows. All the backstabbing manipulating garbage that they are condoning for the kids to emulate. Network TV has all been downhill since seinfeld.

I'd love to parody reality tv shows like "Robot Chicken" does.

Well Kosmonaut I am with you on the Big Brother series - i will be hooked after about 10 minutes of the first show ! ! :)

I am probably in the minority as I also like shows like The osbournes and Hulk Hogans prog.

Also in my list of "must sees" are Castaway , Shipwrecked , American Hot Rod , The Garage,.

I just like WATCHING people ...in real life or on the telly.

I like to see how people / personalities geton or clash .

Only reason I come down hard on it is cause I love TV, and I agree, the sitcoms are bland, the shows are not funny and only a few exceptions count.

Dramas are showing their age. CSI really annoyed me when they did that alien case this year, that show jumped the shark then and there. Simpsons too, jumped the shark with the recent episodes, and the terrible writing.

I used to love to watch TV, cause there was always something to look forward to, but today, there is not anything really to look forward to on TV with the exception to Monday Night Raw, and well, Jericho til CBS decided to be a bunch of dicks and replace it with Kid Nation; which is basically Survivor meets Lord of the Flies.

Oh well. At least thank God I have my TV on DVD collections.

Reality TV is a lot more difficult to have a connection with, unlike sitcoms and dramas. At least those programs have a plot and some sense of continuity in the programs. (Old fashioned shows I heard didn't really have this at the time). A lot of the times these shows can keep the connection with viewers for a long time depending on how long they can keep interest and quality. As long as the show doesn't drag too much; for example, Lost has been critcized for not getting up to the conclusion and having dragging points. I probably can't start getting into the show anymore because of it. I'm sure Prison Break and other shows may be slammed for the same reason.

Reality TV can have connections but not for very long and seasons are a lot shorter especially on Network TV. But then the same actions and situations occur over and over again. A pervasive situation occurs and all of a sudden there is no point about it. Besides the fame only last for less than 15 minutes, probably less than 15 seconds. And the connections have to be refreshed with new contestants and people that the other seasons may be forgotten.

It is better to see a fictional story be told that reflects the real world in some way, rather than so called real-life "unscripted" happenings

American Idol and Dancing With The Stars being the ones I detest the most.

But I like Hell's Kitchen, the man is mean!! I guess I'm just sadistic in a way.

But for me, the two best shows are Heroes and House. I was starting to get into Drive but Fox already canceled that and only after four episodes aired!
