Plus the kid Aidan is pretty creepy! He's reason enough to watch the movie IMO.
I actually rewatched it today, it was nice.
Why do so many horror movies have a creepy little psychic kid?
He kind of reminded me of Danny from The Shining.

I've watched it so many times, and I've read the book, so it's hard to miss anything when you know it so well =)
I haven't watched the remake in forever, but what I miss most about it is that it doesn't take place in Japan
Also, the sequel (Ring Two) has nothing to do with the novels (and little to do with the movie before it), so you never get to follow the rest of the story and find out why the virus exists, and what it's trying to accomplish.
The Korean remake has an English dub, but like most dubs, the acting is pretty bad. It is a tiny bit more faithful to the novel than the Japanese version, but honestly, I don't think it's that important to know that Sadako (or whatever her Korean name was) had androgen insensitivity syndrome.

Sadako's Korean name is Park Eun-suh, by the way. I only watched it (and Uzumaki) because Eun-Kyung Shin from My wife is a gangster was in it, and I wanted to see how she was in that one since I thought she was awesome as a gangster!

Sadako (Samara) is the psychic one, not Yoichi (Aiden).
But Aidan seemed to have a connection to Samara that he surely couldn't have had unless he too had some psychic powers.

Apropos redrum, there is a Korean manga called Redrum 327. I liked it. I just had to read it with that title!

Yeah and he somehow was able to predict his cousin's death and was drawing pictures of her.
Another example I forgot was Job's sister Sarah in Children of the Corn who predicted the massacre against all the adults in Gatlin by drawing pictures of Isaac and his followers killing everybody in town and she also drew pictures of Burt and Vicky arriving in town in their yellow car.
