I'm very good at fashion. Anyone that needs advice can ask me. I used to give advice and dress my siblings when they were teenagers. But I'm also gay, so it might be part of the genetic code. :D

Oh, and a lot of those rules in that fashion for nerds thing are lame. "Don't wear white"... Obviously, who ever wrote this lives in New York, not in LA or Miami. All white in a hot location is a great look and easy to pull off - a no brainer. But the socks with sandals? Yuk, never a good look. 8)

I suggest wear what makes you feel comfortable. Wear what you like.
If you can't deside, you can always look up fashions from different cultures and countercultures. ;)

Okay, the socks with sandals rule I get, but what's the problem with white socks?

Thrift stores are a great place to shop for clothes. Not only are they cheap and have a HUGE selection of all styles, but most of the clothes are 'worn in' and thus more comfortable.

There are some thrift stores that are over-priced--you're actually better off shopping at Walmart, or at JC Penny's or Sears when they have their end-of-season sales.

But, I also know of a few thrift stores that are great. They have really great expensive-looking name-brand clothing for only a couple of dollars each.

In general, if you go to a thrift store that is in a poor area, then the merchandise is going to be of extremely low quality and extremely over-priced.

If you find a thrift store in a somewhat more upscale area, or that typically receives donations from wealthy people whose style changes every five minutes, then you've hit a goldmine.
