i felt bad about the prince too, in fact i wished that it hadn't had to be such a total set up from start to finish cos somehow it made him seem justified, because he had desperately insisted that was a frame!

i saw the twist very soon; partly cos norton has played so many roles like that; the one with richard gere for instance, as a supposed split-personality!!
but i didn' mind cos the atmosphere was so mesmerising. out of time! almost believed in the possibility that something supernatural was going on , more in a way cos was an illusion! odd effect.

has anyone seen " house of games" by mamet with lindsay crouse ? that's a fun twisty film.

I couldn't stand this movie. I thought there would be a twist and there wasn't. It was shallow and melodramatic. And I didn't like the soundtrack at all. I felt very mislead by the trailers.

Graelwyn: I loved The Illusionist! One of my absolute favorite movies, and I have few....this one was special for me.

You simply must see The Village by M. Night Shymalan (sorry - I know I slaughtered his last name)! You will love it, I promise! Another favorite of mine. Let me know what you think if/when you get to watch The Village; I would be curious as to your impressions.

Yeah, definitely liked it. I thought they delivered the plot real well, great story line and acting, and I've always been one for more complex plots where in the end you can see they adhered to what they'd laid out in the beginning in terms of the sort of rules or parameters of the situation or at least had a pretty good explanation for any deviations. I liked the Prestige a lot as well but then again I think Prestige was a much different movie in the end dealing with much different ethics (particularly bioethics), Illusionist pretty much stayed to its roots and kept it all in the mechanical and tactical genius of Ed Norton's character.
