Speaking of Dark Star, I actually made it through half of that.

Half.

Has anyone heard of Phantom of the Paradise? Come on! It's got Paul Williams in it as the devil! Plus, a ton of great music.

hahahaha yessss, with gary busey as the gingerdead man!!

my friends and i will watch movies like this together just to get a kick out of how hilarious the horrible film making is.

the most obscure thing ive seen would probably have to be a little gem called OZONE (street zombies)

"Good" has a completely different definition when the topic is cult films! LOL
Eraserhead? Yuk.
How about "Rock and Roll High School?" Does that qualify as a cult film? It is so quotable.

Cemetery Man, also known as Delamorte Delamore.

It's a WONDERFUL film. I highly recommend it. People classify it as "horror" but it's not scary at all. Essentially it's about this cemetery and everyone who is buried there comes back as a zombie seven days later, so the two dudes who run the cemetery (mainly Rupter Everett) have to shoot 'em to stop them from going out and killing people. It's mostly played for laughs and pseudo-philosophical rambling. There are heavy themes of necrophilia, and a moderate amount of blood, but it's not the least bit disturbing. It's just funny and weird. XD I mean, a guy falls in love with a severed head in it. It has so many great lines, too:
-"I'd give my life to be dead."
-"At a certain point in life, you realize you know more dead people than living."
-"No, please don't! He's only eating me! I shall be eaten by whoever I please!"

Please tell me someone has seen it or plans to? XD

Other obscure films I've seen:
-The Abominable Dr. Phibes (predacessor to "V for Vendetta," "Se7en," etc. I didn't love it but it was rather amusing.)
-John Carpenter's Dark Star (didn't like it)
-Avalon (the one from the guy who did "Ghost in the Shell"...very slow moving but I liked it)
-Six String Samurai (...no. lol.)
-Delicatessen (one of the early ones from Jean-Pierre Jeunet, director of the better-known "Amelie," "A Very Long Engagement," and "The City of Lost Children"; Delicatessen's probably my favorite film by him, though)

I've never even heard of Cemetery Man but would hire it if I saw it available.

I'm not sure I really liked Dark Star, I did a bit but it was very hard to get into it.

I love Jean-Pierre Jeunet's work, particularly Delicatessen and City of Lost Children. Funnily enough, I was one of the few people who liked his Alien Resurrection when it first came out.

Not sure if these fit the bill for "obscure cult classics" but they're very old and very good.
-Nosferatu 1922 (and 1979)
-Fritz Lang's M
-Metropolis (including the Moroder modified version)
-Der Golem
-The universal "spanish" version of Dracula
-The Cabinet of Dr Caligari
-From the Earth to the Moon
-The Gold Rush
-Faust
-Modern Times
-The Great Dictator
-The Thief of Bagdad

"Un Chien Andalou" which I don't recommend to small children or pregnant women or anyone with a weak stomach (no nudity, but its most famous scene is bizarre to "Eraserhead" proportions). It's basically about absolutely nothing and is super disturbing.

You can view it here.

It was a 16-minute silent short directed by Luis Buñuel and written by Buñuel and Spanish surrealist painted Salvador Dali (yes THE Salvador Dali) in 1929 (which means it now falls into the Public Domain)

After that in terms of "obscurity" of a motion picture, i've seen "Manos: The Hands of Fate" (both on "Mystery Science Theater 3000" and on VHS) and "Battle Royale" (i've seen all of the more famous cult classics several times)

I didn't know Un Chien Andalou was obscure. I thought it was one of those films that every film student learns about. Hell, I saw it in my Styles and Expressive Forms class. Anyway, I love it.

As for Plan 9, that's not obscure at all! XD It's hilarious though. I remember it having this one shot that was repeated like 5 times of the vampire in the woods. Aaah, Ed Wood...
