Bein a fan of any series, especially one like Star Trek and Doctor Who, with so many continuity errors and divergent spin-off stories, require a somewhat flexible attitiude to continuity and canon.

To you, I will apologize, MrMark. I begin to think that this is the only way of getting this person's attention, and perhaps getting him/her to actually read the words I've written (hopefully before he/she goes back to the homophobic cracks).

Quatermass, "Blink" gave the Doctor Who answer to continuity - it's all a big ball of wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey... stuff! :)

Ok, first off... point out my homophobic crack.

Second off I completley read your statements, and there false. I'm sorry your still in love with Ricky-boy, but he killed Star Trek.

Then blame Gene Roddenberry for selecting him to create ST:TNG. It comes back to Gene Roddenberry. :)

I'm sure if Gene knew he would order a hit on Ricky-boy.

Maybe you should try to present your argument in a fair and organized way rather than resorting to argumentum ad hominem. :?

Judging from the footage shown online and with "Cloverfield",
the resurrection of this franchise now rests with JJ Abrams and his production company.

Since "Ricky-boy" {oh I love this term}, is not involved in the making of this new film,
this increases the intrigue of how the $135 million reboot will be pulled off.
This new film will easily piss off anyone
who disliked "Alias", "Lost", and "Mission Impossible 3."

One has to feel sorry for Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto
since they are playing iconic roles.

As for "Star Trek" being killed...blame Paramount too.
Paramount giveth the franchise and Paramount taketh away. Correct?

Well we do have Leonard Nimoy coming out of retirement for this. :)

Also, for any fans of Tyler Perry's work,
he will be in the movie as the headmaster of Starfleet Academy.

I think the blame lays soley on Ricky boy. He was given the reigns and he destroyed it. I dont think it can be resurected at this point anymore. The fanbase is what kept Star Trek going all these years, and now there turning there backs on these fans to appeal to the larger group by putting vulcans in skin tight uniforms, showing off borg babes, and throwing canon out the airlock for 30 seconds of dramatic footage.

I liked how Deep Space Nine handled the continuity problem with how much Klingons had changed since the orignal Star Trek. Worf said, we don't discuss what happened with outsiders.

Trials and Tribbleations. Yeah. Classic brilliance!! ! I liked Bashir's "Those are Klingons?" and then the bargirl, "Okay I think you boys have had enough." hehe.

Back on topic.

Personally regarding the whole "is Star Trek XI going to kill Trek" issue, I don't think so. Gonna wait until the movie actually comes out before any judgements in that regard.

(Eric Bana and Karl Urban are in it too. It's coming out early 2009 round these parts -- ie Australia / New Zealand -- and I for one do plan to go see.)

I'm worried that JJ might screw it up, but I will be going to see at the cinema when it hits down here. I will pass judgement on it then and only then.
