L may or may not be Aspie, but he is definitely an eccentric. Of that I am sure.

I definitely think L & Near are both aspies! Or at the very least have many aspieish characteristics. :D I took some personality quizzes in the Death Note #13 book & on the comp. & I am like Near, Ryuk & L. But I doubt Ryuk's an aspie!

No, Ryuk is just plain bored. That's what shiningami do for fun, they drop their Death Notes in front of an unsuspecting human and watch chaos ensue.

L definetly has some traits of apergers syndrome. I can feel similar to him in some ways, sometimes to freak out my sister I start staring at her and I get told I can have a similar stare.

I once typed 'L and autism' into google and I actually found a website dedicated to this belief! I totally think he is Aspie. It's hilarious though because there were a group of kids at my brother's school a few years back who all read the manga and they loved L. The second my brother said that L is like an aspie (he recognised his symptoms as the same as mine and his childhood freind who had AS), they all shouted at him saying that's a load of s*** and stopped reading it. Funny how people really love eccentric or odd characters but when you give their oddness a name, they freak out... Kind of sad really.

He's on Team Aspie.

I know because he's the only character I can cosplay convincingly.

He definately shares alot of the symptoms, and after some thorough Googling, I found a bunch of other threads and short articles making the relation. I even came across this cartoon...

That was an kinteresting little drawing, well that is some things he has that could be aspergers, also that time when Misa gets them all to hold hands you can see that he is kind of uncomfertable with it.

i didn't think it at first but yea, L is an aspie.

kinda felt a little bad for him after what someone at school said to his friend while watching the Death Note movie. he kinda joked about L not being very social. i felt bad.

I think L is just a genious detective. All of them are strange in some way> C. Auguste Dupin, Sherlock Holmes even House (gosh, I hate him) have hard time getting along with others and don't stop before they solve the mystery. I think they're that way because they're genious investigators, not aspies.

He certainly fits the mold, but I doubt that's what the mangaka had in mind.

I used to be a fan of Death Note, but that was before I knew about Aperger's, and even autism.
As I learned about these though, L from DN kept creeping into my mind^^
Well, on top of what's already been said, L definitely is a bit obsessed, and he has special interests.
He prefers to deal with things indirectly and to be separate from the world rather than having to be face to face.
He lacks empathy, but is still able to understand how people think because of his interest in psychology.
He has a strong sense of justice.
He also likes to stack things.
To me, there's no doubt that whoever created L had knowledge of Asperger's or autism, and based his character on that knowledge.
Here's where we see L interact with other people face to face for the first time...
I don't know if it was intentionally worded this way, but it really cracks me up when L says "That's enough small talk for now" XD
And oh.Spoiler alert.

I've always thought L, and Near were Aspies. I was watching Death Note with my cousins for the first time, and both of them notices similarities between how I, and these two characters act. For example, there is one part where Near makes his associate come all the way back to New York to take a plane with him to Japan because he's never done it by himself before. Sounds exactly like me. I believe Watari is there for L to compensate for where his social skills lack, to be be sort of his caretaker.
