As you can tell from my new avatar, I'm very found of Osaka (but not to the point of being in love with her). I relate to her very much, and I have found things that we both have in common. We both day dream, we are both easily distracted, we both have stif joints, and we both see floaters in our eyes.

I also agree that both Osaka and Sakaki have aspie like traits.

i am very sure Osaka is an Aspie because me and her are soooo similar that its the only explanation. she has a lot of the same tendencies albeit more feminine than mine since she is a girl but still she has all the sign of Asperger Syndrome she is probably not diagnosed however

It's weird. I did a search for Sakaki having Aspergers and instead found a bunch of people denying that her character represents anything relating to AS because people believe everyone with AS should be the same or that having AS automatically makes someone depressed or dysfunctional. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk%3AAzu ... r_Syndrome

I thought her AS was close to mine. Osaka seemed closer to classical autism, but apparently if I think so, I'm making stuff up. I don't understand how I can have all the internal conflicts of someone with aspergers and yet be told I'm making stuff up because no one can readily see what's going on in my head, since I've been conditioned to ignore my feelings and well-being to get along and survive in a social society. It's seems the equivalent to having symptoms of pain and telling a doctor about it who then tells you you're a hypochondriac because he can't find anything wrong with you.

anyway...I do very personally think Sakaki represents aspergers from the show, despite the ignorance of people who will so readily claim otherwise on simple fallacious grounds of observational reasoning that mostly includes Psychologist's Fallacy and No True Scotsman.

i definitely think Osaka is an Aspie, or at least has some form of High-Functioning Autism. her ability to put together complex things like riddles and obscure kanji so quickly and insightfully while being unable to function doing simple things is too much of a telltale sign. also, watch her try to stack boxes during the stuffed animal cafe episode and tell me she's not an Aspie. not to mention how she acts is pretty much how i acted in high school (anybody else?).

Speaking of that stuffed animal cafe episode, it contained yet ANOTHER Osaka moment that is 100% Aspie...when there was a big panic in the setting up of the cafe, Chiyo, who was in charge said "Oooh! Can't we please turn back the clock?"

And Osaka....wow....she took a chair, walked to the blackboard, stood on the chair...and tried to reach the clock to turn it back! Literal minded thinking...a classic Aspie trait! 8)

Osaka: "You got this coffee shop, right? There´s all these dogs and cats in it...
And theyre all dead."
In the following strip she explains her idea further.
"A coffee shop haunted by the ghosts of cuddly little animals."

There´s just something about this kind of reasoning, to mash ideas together and come to "odd" conclusions, that rings true. It´s something I do all the time.
But does she have AS? I wish cos she´s my favourite character, but I´m not convinced.

I've watched the first 5 episodes of this anime on a DVD my friend gave me and I can definetly see the Asperger-ish quirks that Osaka has. I also suspect that both Tomo and Miss Yukari have severe cases of ADHD, even my sister who suffers from it thinks so about these two characters.

Oh I LOVE Sakaki! She's my favorite character on the show! And yes, I Strongly suspect she has some form of mild Asperger's, what with her introverted nature and child-like love for cute things.

Osaka I would think is extremely mild Asperger's, because she seems to have no trouble getting along with people. Though I do think her randomness is adorable, especially the "I smelled a fart that wasn't mine" moment. ^_^

Hmm. I haven't watched any of this show in four or five years. Maybe I should go back and watch the whole thing again.

One of my favorite moments was when that one girl (can't think of her name) asked what they were talking about, and Osaka said, "Hemorrhoids." Which wasn't explicitly what they were discussing at all. I also loved her random moments and fantasies.

Actually, I had an incident similar to one of hers once, where I walked into a room full of friends with a pot holder on my hand while holding a knife, and I couldn't remember what I had been doing to explain why, so I started to carry on talking to them while they were staring and then one girl was like, "Um... I know that knife isn't hot, so what's happening here?" So I said "Preventing fingerprints?" and they all looked shocked.

Why would they, it was a perfectly normal and pretty good joke. I would have laughed.

Dont think so. If anything she's more likely to have some sort of mild schizophrenia
