I remember watching one CYE episode where it was about the Hasdic Jews who supposedly had sex through a hole in their bedsheets.

I thought it was pretty funny, and apparently it's not just a rumour.

Yeah, he reminds me of my dad. I laugh my butt off at this show.

Did you know that George off of Seinfeld is based off of Larry David?
Not to turn this into a Seinfeld thread though..

This is the kind of thing Bill Maher had an absolute field-day with in his movie Religuless.

I should watch that movie, not because I share Bill's Maher's worldview but because I don't share it. In hs movie, Bill points out how silly all religion actually is. And from a certain point of view, it is quite silly. The Pope dressing like Liberace's stunt-double, having a papal ring for otherd to kiss ... Orthodox Jews and their long curly sideburns ....

But my favourite is the Popemobile with its transparent bulletproof Pope-dome. :lmao:

Another time-honoured tradition that defies logical explanation is the Running of the Bulls in Spain.

I haven't seen this show in a few years. Is it still good? I had that it was starting to go downhill, if it had not yet jumped the shark?

Like The Office (UK), I think this is great but I can't watch it. At least not without a lot of squirming. I'm sensitive like that.

I heard that, but could never see the connection actually. The character of George is really hard for me to place in life. I suppose that means *I'm* the George in the family...

i just watched an ep of curb your enthusiasm yesterday in which jason alexander (george in "seinfeld") and another guy are telling larry what a tosser the "george" character from "seinfeld" is. it's a whole ep with this runing through as one of the sub-plots and it fits right in with your observation above! :lmao:

Yeah, I remember that one. The whole thing is much clearer to me now I'm afraid!

This is my favorite show. Seinfeld used to be my favorite before that. Now when I watch a Seinfeld episode it seems like all the characters are a piece of Larry David. I haven't watched the new episodes. Did he stay with the black lady? I like him with her more than Cheryl. When I saw him with the black prostitute I wanted him to hook up with a black woman.

Haha, same- the first episode of this show I saw reminded me of my dad a lot. I bet he'd like the show if he saw it, but my family never got HBO.

The character and the show has been commented on frequently as being the American counterpart to the Alan Partridge show, where the title character is played by Steve Coogan. Steve Coogan did a guest spot on Curb Your Enthusiasm once as a psychiatrist, I think.

I'd never really been identifed with an elderly Jewish guy before I was introduced to Curb. Like Larry, I can't stand if the cuffs of my sleeves get streched out because I have to pull them up. It just ruins my day and the outfit.

Any scene between Wanda Sykes and Larry David is wonderful. See Racist Dog.
