That's exciting! I just discovered Red Dwarf last year and I love it, I bought all the dvds right away.

So I am a little concerned that Rob Grant won't be returning to make these new episodes with his old co-writer. Seasons 7 and 8, written by just Doug Naylor after the two split, were inferior to the other seasons in my opinion.

It seems strange that they broke their partnership together after such a successful collaboration, and the reasons for the split still seem mostly unknown.

It's publically stated that Grant "just wanted to do something new," but they continued both continued the Red Dwarf novels after Grant stopped the television series- only they each wrote a their own separate sequels to their last cowritten book- deciding to split the Red Dwarf universe rather than attempt to work with each other again.

Seems strange, like something less than amiable must've gone down between the two. :?

It will be available in Torrent form on the day of its showing. No need to miss it if you cannot receive it.

The Rob Grant split is quite sad, its funny how relationships sometimes go. I'm still very much looking forward to this minor update. Season 7 was pretty weak, but I loved Season 8.

Um... what? Sounds like something I can't get... (Seriously, my step-dad lives in the stone-age)

Also, I totally agree about the whole Doug/Rob thing being a problem. I too didn't like series 7 or 8. Not as funny and too much toilet humour.

Yeah... I am stuck in the 90's... Oh well, I'm sure they'll repeat it again when I DO have access to freeview...

LOVE IT! Especially the last few episodes...the dinosaur with the diarreah attack!! All of them!
I can't decide!! I can't convince any of the public television stations to air them again. I'll just have to purchase the DVD's. Ouroboros with baby Lister in the box touched my heart

I love Red Dwarf. I had the entire series, but had to sell a few to make ends meet. I've got all of "Chef!", though. Just finished rewatching it all. I love Brit Coms!

Have you seen The IT Crowd? I think they are supposed to be remaking it into a US version. The Moss character is a bit Aspie-ish. It's very funny.

The first two seasons were great! i don't think they should make US versions of tv shows, they always seem to mess it up some how :? well.. apart from the us version of the weakest link.... that was just plain funny :P

Great! I'll definitely be watching this, one of my favourite TV series.
TBH I don't think Rob Grant leaving made things much worse. Different, yes but worse not really. Series 5+6 were the weakest series in my opinion.
If anything impacts on the quality it'll most likely be that it's been so long since the previous series. I also saw Norman Lovett on TV a few years ago and I have to say he's aged quite a lot - although that's all superficial really, he was always the 'proper' Holly and still will be.
But it'll probably be just as good as series 8... glad to see it back mostly!

I love it, I recall once having some real Gazpacho soup just so I could find out what it was like to have cold soup.

I always feel a bit sorry for Rimmer, he seems to try too hard and then mess up everything.

The talking toaster was a good moment in the story.
