"The Illusionist" by Sylvain Chomet (IMDB Link: Imdb: The Illusionist) Chomet's previous film was "The Triplets of Bellville" is fairly light and funny. The Illusionist, based on a script by Jacques Tati is a melancholy, almost depressing film. It follows a character, essentially an animated Jacques Tati as an aging magician who performs to increasingly smaller audiences. A needy young girl looking to escape her boring home life follows him and he must take care of her as he travels to various towns doing his act. There isn't a strong story line. It's really about little character details and visual gags. I recommend it, but only for those who prefer off beat animation.

I also watched "Some Like It Hot" recently. It's been a while since I've seen this film. I generally don't like Billy Wilder's sex comedies. "The Apartment" is very good but it doesn't go in for the tacky jokes that "Some Like it Hot" and "Irma La Douce" have. I guess I liked "Some Like It Hot" a bit better this time, but I still think his earlier films are much better.
