The Smiley Face Killers.

Based very, very loosely on a strange bit of graffiti of a smiley face near the scenes of suspicious deaths, this movie is a terrible stinker that not even Crispin Glover can save.

Anna and the Apocalypse [2017]

A typical Scottish Christmas-Horror Rom-Zom-Com Musical.

I plan to see WW84 (Wonder Woman 1984) in a few minutes at the local theater.

Image

It is a little cold this morning. Temperatures dropped down to 10 deg F [-12 deg C] this morning. We had a dusting of snow last night.

Me and my N95.

Wonder Woman 1984.

Just saw it on HBO Max. Pretty decent sequel. Pedro Pascal plays what's supposed to be Donald Trump (conman and failed businessman) who creates a world wide catastrophe when he absorbs the power of a wish-granting-stone. Don't want to spoil it for anyone, other to say it was an enjoyable movie.

When Pedro Pascal started to think about his “Wonder Woman 1984” villain Max Lord, one name came to mind: Gordon Gekko. Who better to model his power suit-wearing striver on than the embodiment of 1980s greed and callousness? Max Lord is a divorced dad, minor television personality and wannabe oil tycoon whose wealth is mostly smoke and mirrors until he gets hold of a powerful, wish-granting stone. “He’s an immigrant who is trying to live up to appearing to be his idea of the American dream,” Jenkins said.

But director Patty Jenkins had something different in mind than the Michael Douglas character. (Both [Pascal and Jenkins] say it wasn’t Donald Trump, either.)

While Lord might have been part Gekko, I saw much more Trump in him.

I personally thought it was a great show. I especially enjoyed how the darkest secrets of the lead characters were revealed. Appearances by Josephine Baker and Frida Kahlo were a treat.

Yep enjoyed the historical references, there were layers and complexity. No surprise Jordan Peele seems to produce award winning programs (I think this is only his second production after "Get Out").

Don't want to release any spoilers but one of the weirder things is how the main characters wear red just prior to death,

Me too. I wish HBO Max had a free trial period for potential subscribers who want to enjoy the benefits of watching big movies at home instead of going to a movie theater and paying who knows how much.

Scars Of Dracula

Numerically this film, made in 1970, comes about halfway through the Hammer Dracula series starring Christopher Lee, but towards the end of the cycle from a chronological angle. Features a very young-looking Dennis Waterman, and the 'Hammer Glamour' content is provided by Anouska Hempel and Jenny Hanley, though interestingly neither of them strip off, which was generally a frequent requirement for attractive young actresses in these sorts of films after the 1969 relaxation of the censorship laws.

It's very gory at some points, most of the carnage being inflicted in the nearby countryside and villages by a rather strange looking oversized vampire bat, rather than the Count, who is confined to his castle for the duration of the movie. His eventual destruction is pretty spectacular, though achieved by somewhat unlikely means.

The DVD came with a commentary by the director and Christopher Lee, who predictably complains about the scriptwriters, and in particular their failure to stay faithful to Bram Stoker's novel. You have to wonder why Lee went on playing Dracula in these Hammer films for 16 years if he was so unhappy with them.

Gonna watch it for the 50th anniversary. The reason why Lee continued doing these it because the producers gave him bad conscience : "think of the crew , their jobs depend on you"......so he felt he had to make these or it would seem disrespectful to the people who depended on him

Yes , it has more gore than usual but i wasnt offended by it......Dracula was never really intended for kids though

IMO , "Scars" is better than "Taste" or the last "modern" ones , "AD" and "Satanic Rites" :skull:

Id like to get Hempels autograph for my 007/Dracula collection but alas she no longer signs autographs except books , very htf

Olsenbanden og Dynamitt Harry (Olsen gang and Dynamite Harry) 5/6 , Egon tries to go straight , Harrys first apperance in these series of crime comedies (here hes more obnoxious/drunken than in later films)

Then theres a american gangster similar to Blofeld , even the way hes filmed (at first you only see his legs) & the Olsen gangs boss Egon gets the hots for his prison shrink.

Eddie the Eagle , 5/6.....great movie about the brit ski jumper , shame Walken is only in it for like 2 mins though
