Saw Wonder Woman 1984 tonight with my daughter. Was looking forward to seeing this after multiple delays due to the pandemic. I especially loved the 2017 Gal Gadot film, and that wound up being my favourite film of the year. While WW84 was visually stunning, had heart and a positive message, overall, it just didn’t have the same impact as the 2017 film. It’s opened to mixed reviews, and has lost its original “certified fresh status” on Rotten Tomatoes. Gal has just opened up that she required neck and back surgery after the 2017 film, suffering multiple injuries having filmed two films and giving birth to her daughter in the same year ... to read more on this ... https://screenrant.com/wonder-woman-gal-gadot-neck-back-surgery-injury/

I’d give it 2.5/5 stars.

Have to agree with the following ...

The sequel to the 2017 hit finds Diana Prince, a.k.a. Wonder Woman, pining for love and saddled with a movie unworthy of her.

likely it was still more readily entertaining, overall, than "the magic christian."

^^ Now, I'm definitely going to to have to check that one out, having just looked it up! So many big names in it! Songs by Badfinger too!! :P

Just read the following ...

The Magic Christian is a 1969 British satirical black comedy film directed by Joseph McGrath and starring Peter Sellers and Ringo Starr, with appearances by John Cleese, Graham Chapman, Raquel Welch, Spike Milligan, Christopher Lee, Richard Attenborough and Roman Polanski. It was loosely adapted from the 1959 comic novel The Magic Christian by the American author Terry Southern, who co-wrote the screenplay adaptation with McGrath. The film also features pre-Monty Python appearances of John Cleese (credited) and an uncredited Graham Chapman, who had jointly written an earlier version of the film script.

Songs by Badfinger, including one written by Paul McCartney, were used on the soundtrack. The official soundtrack album had other music as well as dialogue from the film. Badfinger released an album, Magic Christian Music, containing their songs for the film.

The Magic Christian received mostly negative reviews on release with its unrelenting and heavy-handed satire on capitalism, greed and human vanities.

oh don't get me wrong, it is definitely worth watching at least once to catch all the quick asides in it. it has many instances of "blink and you miss it' humor. but it takes real mental work to take it all in.

I’ll say! What a trip and a half! Just finished watching it. Heavy-handed satire! I didn’t want to blink in case I missed something. As you said, so much going on! Blink and you’ll miss Yoko and John boarding the ship. Great to see London back in the day. So many famous names in this. Loved the music. Glad I watched it, as I can now say that I’ve seen the most “out there” film ever made . Was surprised that the boardroom meeting wound up being on a train and soo surreal! Five out of five stars for most unique film EVER!

You know what's "heavy-handed satire"? Jonathan Swift!! !!

I saw this movie about a "primitive" family who stays with a less "primitive" family. It was also about a budding romance---a "first love" sort of romance.

It was a cartoon, but not a conventional cartoon. I forgot what they call it.

"Gulliver's Travels" was one of his more entertaining works. Children like it----but the satire in it is rather piquant.

Rather like Bugs Bunny-----great for the kids, satire for the adults.

I wouldn't recommend reading "A Modest Proposal" if you have a weak constitution.

^^^ From 1729 ... yes, am familiar with that. Think I’ll watch “Birds of Prey” tomorrow night ... next movie on from Suicide Squad. My brain needs to recover from tonight’s film .

I sense you have a flair for recovering from adversity.....

I have sort of a flair for it---sometimes----but I probably compensate too much, which has affected the degree of my success in life.

I’m sorry that your success has been hindered, but I sense that you’ve maintained the things that truly matter in life. You haven’t lost your ability to see the good in life, and you appear to be a rare and valuable “giver” of your wisdom and time, that’s for certain.

The world I grew up in, without a mother to protect me, meant I lost my speech and my ability to protect myself. So, I made sure to protect others, once I grew up. All’s well that ends well.
