"The Illusionist" by Sylvain Chomet (IMDB Link: Imdb: The Illusionist) Chomet's previous film was "The Triplets of Bellville" is fairly light and funny. The Illusionist, based on a script by Jacques Tati is a melancholy, almost depressing film. It follows a character, essentially an animated Jacques Tati as an aging magician who performs to increasingly smaller audiences. A needy young girl looking to escape her boring home life follows him and he must take care of her as he travels to various towns doing his act. There isn't a strong story line. It's really about little character details and visual gags. I recommend it, but only for those who prefer off beat animation.

I also watched "Some Like It Hot" recently. It's been a while since I've seen this film. I generally don't like Billy Wilder's sex comedies. "The Apartment" is very good but it doesn't go in for the tacky jokes that "Some Like it Hot" and "Irma La Douce" have. I guess I liked "Some Like It Hot" a bit better this time, but I still think his earlier films are much better.

The Illusionist is awesome.

Great movie. Made me really think about the purpose of my life and what I can do to improve as a human being

Terror Planet

I watched it free on LoveFilm online.

I think it's supposed to be a sort of humorous pisstake of early zombie B movies. I think it's meant to be a sort of bad but good film. But unfortunately I found it tedious, not funny, and a bit ridiculous. Maybe it's yet another sense of humour failure on my part. :?

I saw Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, and I love it! One of my new favorite movies. I saw it twice in two days, and feel like watching it again. It's that good.

I also rewatched The Princess Bride after not seeing it for several years, and it's a great movie, of course.

Hachi: A Dog's Tale
I knew the story about Hachiko. I knew this movie was gonna be sad. Yet I still watched it.
Why? Why do I torment myself like this?
I miss my dog so much now.

Country Strong...a LONG slow battle of a movie,I actually cannot believe G.Paltrow thinks she can sing act and dance. It is just pitiful to watch..especially when she is decked out in trashy short skirts when she is on the cusp of her 40s.I don't recommend this to anyone!

Just rewatched Six Shooter... one of the best short films you'll ever see.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice starring Nicholas Cage and Jay Baruchel. I saw it available on Netflix to watch instantly, and I thought "Hey, I liked Alice in Wonderland, so this one might be good too." Boy was I wrong! Now I'm not a film snob by any means, and I'm the type of person who is easily entertained. But The Sorcerer's Apprentice failed to entertain me on any level. Though the CGI was cool and the actors did a good job with what they were given, the plot and characterization were very weak. It just didn't grab me on an emotional level; it felt so hollow and soulless. I could see this movie as something a young child might enjoy, but for anyone over the age of, say 10 or 11, I'd give this one a pass.
