The 1989 classic was on tv. Still great.

A Quiet Place Part II.

Shows the very beginning of the plague of auditory hunting monsters for the family, then after when the first movie left off. When I first watched it, I wasn't impressed, but the more time I have to think about it, the more I like it.

A good throwback.

Etre et Avoir

French film from 2002. Focuses on a small primary school in rural France, and the relationship between the teacher (Georges Lopez) and his small class, composed of pupils aged about 4 to 12 years old. Filmed in a 'Cinéma Vérité' style, could also be described as impressionistic or even poetic, though maybe there are questions to be asked about the methodology of the film and its editing.

I actually really liked this, contrary to what I was expecting. The teacher comes over as a fascinating and sympathetic character, as do several of the children. Members of this forum might be particularly interested in Nathalie, a girl who has problems relating to others and who seems to be very probably autistic (see video clip).

Very sad to learn of the lawsuits involving Monsieur Lopez and some of his pupils that took place in later years.

The Suicide Squad.

Sequel to the original, this one has a giant starfish monster alien, complete with new characters. Fun DC movie.

Not great but we both found it to be adequate--better than we expected.

Basil Rathbone starred. John Carradine had a small part. Lon Chaney, Jr. and Bela Lugosi had non-speaking parts. According to IMDb this was Lugosi's last completed film so it is kind of shame that we apparently enjoyed it more than he did.
