Was it any good?

Only watch this movie if you are a huge fan of both Dwayne Johnson AND Emily Blunt.

Most of the jokes Dwayne Johnson says are funny enough, but the majority are dumb.

Johnson & Blunt do have good chemistry in this film.

Sometimes I wonder "What would the man Walt Disney think of his company now? What would he think of all the acquisitions (Marvel, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, 20th Century Fox, just to be clear) and other stuff such as Disney Plus, live-action remakes of all animated classics that have happened, and theme park rides being adapted for film?"

I don't know if I could handle that.

We watched the four MonsterVerse films this week:

 - Kong: Skull Island [2017]
 - Godzilla [2014]
 - Godzilla: King of the Monsters [2019]
 - Godzilla vs. Kong [2021]

They wouldn't be to everyone's liking but we enjoy that kind of stuff. What Wikipedia says about the franchise's future is not reassuring, however.

Last night we watched:

Jesse James Meets Frankenstein's Daughter [1966]
Tagline: "SEE THE GREATEST NAMES IN TERROR HISTORY...IN ONE BIG SHOW!"
(from original ad of Embassy's double-bill, with Billy the Kid vs. Dracula [1966])

OK to watch either film for the novelty value.

Background: Normally I try to (mostly) limit my posts to movies that we own a copy of or (less often) movies I have at least seen. But when "Politics, Philosophy, and Religion" had the thread "Are Space-Alien Stereotypes Offensive" I posted a response citing a movie we did not own and I had not seen...just because of the movie's name. But, you know, the movie sounded like something that belonged in our collection! My bride got us a copy and so, last night, we watched:

Codependent Lesbian Space Alien Seeks Same [2011]
Tagline: "Are Earth Girls Easy?"

It is (predictably) not the greatest movie ever but (also predictably) we enjoyed it. It is the kind of nonsense we like.

P.S. In case you also like that kind of nonsense I'll mention that I think Creatures from the Pink Lagoon [2006] might be better.

P.P.S. The stereotypes are wrong!

My NT sister happened upon a DVD copy when she was at a library near our house.

We watched it as we ate dinner and despite all the blood, we managed to sit through it just fine.

We both are looking forward to seeing the sequel! :)
