Last night I watched: It Came from Beneath the Sea [1955]
Tagline: "IT CRUSHES! KILLS! DESTROYS!"
A good example of a reasonably good 1950s Science Fiction B-movie. Somewhat predictable, etc., but quite watchable.

Last night I watched A Night in Casablanca [1946]
Tagline: "The Marx Brothers spend..."
It was the three Marx Brothers. It was silly. It was funny. Really not much else to say. Though...
The Marx Brothers' made comedy movies in the 1930s and 1940s. If you like zany comedy and are unfamiliar with them (heck, they are even sort of before my Dad's time!) you might want to try some of their movies.
Their Wikipedia entry notes: "The Marx Brothers were collectively named No. 20 on AFI's list of the Top 25 American male screen legends of Classic Hollywood. They are the only group to be so honored."

Last night we watched Visit to a Small Planet [1960]
Starring Jerry Lewis (acting pretty much like Jerry Lewis). My bride, who is half French, really liked it.

And now I have to wonder... I know I saw Visit to a Small Planet when I was young but have no clear recollections of what I saw, though I sort of think I liked it and that's why I got a copy recently. And what we watched last night doesn't quite match my minuscule, vague recollections. Now I have to wonder whether what I long ago saw was the earlier Goodyear Playhouse episode "Visit to a Small Planet" which aired on May 8, 1955. If so, I would've been less than one year old when I saw it! I'm inclined to think it is possible the scrap of memory I have could go that early...I also know I used to enjoy watching Topper which aired that early even though I don't have any clear memories of it, either.

Liked it. It takes place in Canada. The guy that that movie was based on was my Step Sister's Professor

Now, Voyager

1942 film starring Bette Davis. The title comes from a Walt Whitman poem, which I looked up and was a bit disappointed to discover that it's a rather banal two-line affair. The movie has a very high score on imdb, with a large proportion of reviewers giving it 10/10, but I'd put it around 7/10 at best.

Davis's character is apparently transformed from a repressed, dowdy thirty-something woman into a confident, attractive woman of the world after a few weeks spent at some sort of retreat run by a psychiatrist (played by Paul Henreid). It's not very convincing at all, but you have to say that Bette does look really good in the second half of the film.

Last night we watched The Creature from Lake Michigan [2010]
Tagline: "You wanna come back to my place, see my monster?"
It is a low-budget film and it shows (IMDb estimates its budget at $30,000), and film production took 21 years (the story behind that makes entertaining reading!)! And, of course, it is our kind of movie--we both enjoyed it!

THE FOLLOWING FILM HAS BEEN APPROVED FOR
