Yesterday I saw Larry Crowne,
the new directorial effort by Tom Hanks.

Loved it. Laughed most of the time. Was worth seeing.
Not a perfect movie & Hanks should direct more often. 3.5/4

I once had a math professor who acted
a lot like Prof. Mercedes Tainot {Julia Roberts},
a complete bee-yotch
who scared everybody, me included.

Wicker Park with Rose Byrne. 9.9 out of 10...only thing keeping it from a ten is Josh Hartnett's bad acting (all looks, no talent) and the hollywood ending.

I watched Resident Evil: Afterlife last night, which I'm pretty sure caused my IQ to drop five points in under two hours. It had to be the worst film in a series that already reeks of mediocrity. It was originally filmed in 3D using the same technology used to film Avatar, but on a regular HD television the special effects didn't look any better than the kind you might see in a SyFy channel original movie (the same could be said about the quality of the plot, characters and acting, as well). One of the things that really puzzled me was if Albert Wesker could dodge bullets (like in the game RE 5), how come he wasn't fast enough to dodge the knife Alice stabbed into his head? Oh, right, because the laws of the universe magically bend to her advantage (even more so in this film because it had to look good in 3D). He practically stuck the barrel of her shotgun into his mouth by himself, like he was expecting her to give him crack cocaine after she was finished.

True Grit 2010.

Not bad, but doesn't have the impact of No Country for Old Men.

I watched Drive Angry. I thought it an awesome movie though probably many would strongly disagree. I love me my Nick Cage and my Keanu Reeves.

Kill The Irishman

Had a lot of relatives hyped about it being about Cleveland history. They had the stylization of the late 60's and 70's down pretty well (or at least per my guess) as well as the Cleveland vibe at that time. Its a bit of history I never really heard much about, in reading IMDB it looks like they left out a lot big stuff but - I get it - they had to weave a workable movie out of the story and have some type of circular devices to rope it all in (Celtic crosses and inheritance of the Irish warrior spirit which he passed on in his last moments).

Overall I liked the movie a lot. Good action, the only thing that's tricky is its a bit like LA Confidential in that they skip along at a lot of points while very loosely connecting certain events, so you're working out how their connected a bit on your own. If you do like stuff that's immersively period driven and - at least in presentation - tries to drill deep for honesty in terms of the energy put forward, you may get into it (or I may have no taste - I've been both very write or swing 180 degrees wide wrong before so, who knows). Still - I thought it was pretty good.

Tom Hanks is American's very own Swell Guy.

Seriously. He has proven that a person can be a success in Hollywood and not be a pr*ck.

Oh I'll have to see it too then.
I love Tom Hanks.

I saw this one based on a true story and it was great but I don't know if it has been translated yet.

To add a little bit more I was just talking to my dad who's unfortunately in the hospital today, getting better. Seems like a lot of people knew this guy, my dad and his brothers actually did work down at the doc yards back in the late 60's early 70's and worked with this guy. I'll have to get his take once he sees to movie to get a sense of how on or off point the actor selection and scripting were.

Toy Story. All of them. Not even The Godfather trilogy manages to be that good.

Well, Godfather III kind of screws that up.

Toy Story 1 + 2 < Godfather 1 + 2

Toy Story 1 + 2 + 3 > Godfather 1 + 2 + 3

I agree. I'd love to see Hanks, Cruise, Clooney and Cage
star in a movie together {as brothers, perhaps?}
with Hanks or Clooney directing.
