I did watch this series out of curiosity sake. I will say the series is actually pretty good. I was like "Omg how can I still be watching this and like it." :3

I could not get into it but the two shows I really like on the hub are Dan VS and The Twisted Whiskers Show.

I love MLP:FIM. I'd say my favorite "characters" are Derpy Hooves (Look in the first episode. There is a pegasus with strange eyes. The fandom call her Derpy Hooves) and Doctor Whoof (Depending on when you see him, he is either an Earth Pony or a Pegasus. Has an hourglass as his cutie mark. The fandom have agreed that he is The Doctor). My favorite CANON character has to be Fluttershy, mostly because I have a thing for moe moe girls who speak really softly. I really don't like Rarity, but I can tolerate her.

I'm really annoyed by people making Alicorn OCs, as it borders on Mary Sue territory. Sure, they exist in canon, but having both wings AND a horn means that they are akin to gods (since the only two we see with both are Celestia and Nightmare Moon/Luna)

I'm slightly annoyed that they didn't go the Magical Filly angle like the first two episodes built up to. Don't get me wrong, the show's pretty good as it is now, but there is a distinct lack of Magical Girl shows that play it straight, rather than being either depressing or more in line with other genres than Magical Girl. Also, there is no western Magical Girl shows beyond WITCH.

My partner unfortunately has an extreme obsession with MLP: Friendship is Magic, and it's damaging our relationship. I used to think the show was great, but I'm of a different opinion now.

Sorry.

I guess it's like when I watch anime and can't understand how people can dislike it or find anything wrong with it. But I am on the other side of that with Mlp.

I find it strange that so many adult men like this. Can anyone tell me why?

Its popular amongst us nerdy folk mainly because of its animation style. It also has various references stuff like benny hill, hitchikers guide to the galaxy and many others. The thing is, MLP:FiM isn't anything like previous MLP crap (you know, the horrible, saccharin "tea party" sort of stuff) and is alot more general. It appeals to older demographics and is aimed at parents and adults as well as kids. That, and its became an internet fad and phenomonon. I watch it because I am a fan of animation, I like the story lines, the characters personalities, and because Lauren Faust (the creator of the show) made it and I am a fan of her style.
Don't assume all bronies are creepy 40 year olds living in basements brushing their fluttershy doll. We're not all like that, honestly. In fact, most of us are just open minded 15 - 25 year olds who enjoy cartoons. I'm just a slightly nerdy, but in general normal 17 year old who works hard, goes to college and contributes to society. I have had no previous interest in MLP, and never will have (because old MLP stuff IS weird), but MLP:FiM is a great cartoon I enjoy.

^^ We like this ^^

However we don't like this. And it IS weird for an adult male to like it.

To conclude I would say, we're not weird. We just enjoy cartoons. You might enjoy it as well, check out the first episode. You might like it. Remember, we're not MLP fans. We are MLP:FiM fans.

Shleed told me a lot of guys have stickers and toys of it. Which is weird. There's nothing wrong with liking a cartoon. But boys liking it just seems odd as it's an extremely girl targeted product.

Also I first heard about it in a thread where a member was talking about her strange aspie fiance wanting to have sex with an masturbating to the characters in it. So at first I thought that was the appeal.

The meme-ification is probably responsible for its poularity as meme-ification makes people check something out. Thanks for clearing that up.

o____O WTF? It dumbfounds me how people could be that screwed up... Anyway, there are f****d up people out there unfortunately. Remember though, most people who like the show aren't creepy in that way lol. We're animation fans and internet meme fans.

I love MLP FIM! it's one of the best shows I've seen in a long time, though I can't stand the original MLP! Lauren Faust & co have created a fantastic show! when I have kids of my own I will sit them down and make them watch it! though I will probably appreciate it more than they will D:

To any new bronies out there; "welcome to the herd!"
