Last night we watched:

Ghostbusters [2016]
=->"Answer the call"

OK. I know it did poorly when it was released. My bride's theory is a bunch of nerds objected to it because "that's not canon!" My theory is NTs aren't as good at handling change as they think they are.

This movie may have pushed the humor a little more than the original but it worked for us. And, it was very respectful of the original franchise. My bride and I both liked the movie! We both wish there would be sequels. Though there won't be.

And this in no way conflicts with our happiness that the original franchise might still have some life left in it. In my ideal universe both franchises would be putting out sequels in their separate, unrelated continuums (that happened to have a lot of similarities).

Oh, my bride and I disagreed on one thing. I thought Chris Hemsworth's performance was a little over-done. My bride, however, thought he was delightful eye candy. :roll:

We did agree, however, that Kate McKinnon's performance was great fun!

It's really good. I used to watch it all the time as a kid and it's just as good as I remembered it being.

The other day 3 films were on TV at once, all of which I'd seen before, I watched them a little bit. Journey to the Center of the Earth, Watchmen and Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole

Also Safe earlier this week which I hadn't seen.

^ Also, the Iron Giant is an awesome film.

Which version of Journey to the Center of the Earth did you watch?

Regarding The Iron Giant, it will always be a great film because in part of its director,
Brad Bird, being native to Oregon.

Now IMO, had Pixar not messed up production of his movie about the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake, then perhaps Bird's movie could have happened by now? :?

Werewolves Within.

Decent horror comedy, where the new forest ranger, after having arrived in a small town in the wilderness in the dead of winter, finds himself hold up with local people, one of whom is a werewolf.

The 2008 one with Brendan Fraser. I only really watched a couple of scenes when there was ads on the other ones because it's not very good.

Last night we watched:

The Machine [2013]
>=>"They rise. We fall."

My bride "really liked it" and noted that it held both of our attentions. I thought it was quite good and very polished—especially given that I thought it was likely a low-budget film.

I suspected it was low-budget because it seemed to have very little of the spectacular stuff a blockbuster film would have. But what it had it used beautifully. This morning I checked and IMDb estimates the film's budget to be just $1,000,000! WOW! For that price it is a spectacularly good film!

Pickman's Muse.

Valentine's Day gift from my wife. Low budget Lovecraftian horror, that despite it's title, is actually based on Lovecraft's story, The Haunter Of The Dark. Not too bad, but a loyalar adaption would have been appreciated.

Last Night In Soho.

A young British woman with an obsession with the sixties goes to London to study fashion design, where she finds herself reliving the memories of a woman in the 1960's whose dreams as an entertainer turn into a nightmare. Very good horror film.

The Hurt Locker

Even if so many things are condensed into a few characters along with some other stuff that makes it unrealistic (it's a movie, so it doesn't matter), it gets its point across. The monologue in the Humvee near the end is quite good.
