Last night we watched:

Jack Strong [2014]

<=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=>"The enemy of my enemy is my friend"

Set during the Cold War it is about a Polish military officer who discovers that Soviet war plans have extremely bad consequences for Poland (mushroom cloud kind of "bad consequences") so he starts giving highly classified military information to the U.S.

Based upon real events.

We both thought the movie was good!

Cyrano.

Musical version of the classic play, with Peter Dinklage playing the title role, with his Achilles heel being his height rather than a huge nose. Very moving. Anyone who's ever felt unlovable will appreciate this.

Last night I watched:

A Day at the Races [1937]
<=>"Three Great Laff Stars ! . . . more gags and gals . . . more songs and dances !"
<=+=>With Groucho, Chico, and Harpo Marx

Good fun!

The three Marx Brothers were in fine form. The romantic leads, Allan Jones and especially Maureen O'Sullivan, were very likable. Margaret Dumont and Sig Ruman were exactly what they needed to be. But the cast member that surprised me the most was Esther Muir! She clearly had a lot of talent...music, dance, and comedy.

An excellent choice if you'd like to watch a light comedy.

X-Men: Apocalypse - weak script, but great spectacle, as expected. Xavier seemed particularly insufferable, like every rich guy who wants to save the world.

Started Dark Phoenix, but these writers can't do emotion beyond the very superficial. Should've stuck closer to the comic.

Sounds like I might like to see that.
