Snowbeast.

Third rate Jaws ripoff where the beach is replaced with a ski resort, and the shark is replaced with a carnivorous Bigfoot. I can't believe this movie scared me as a kid!

Agreed.

Argento's had his hits, but he's had a whole lot of misses, too.

Most directors do I'm afraid.

Mostly I steered clear of WP during its recent disruption...but I'm hoping it is OK now.

During the hiatus I watched:

 #1  The Invisible Man's Revenge [1944]
<=#1=->"A Trail Of Terror!"

During his absence his assets are misappropriated and abused by those he trusted and helped.

This movie is so-so.

I guess: duh ! Not Recommended duh !

 #2  GOG [1954]
<=#2-+>"Super Thrills With a Man Made Mechanical Monster on the Loose!"

The computer has an unknown backdoor which unseen enemies use to cause disruption.

This movie is mostly uninteresting, except at the intellectual level. For a movie of that time its story contains some very advanced ideas: cryogenics, concern about keeping humans alive and healthy during long space flights, reliance upon a central computer which controls many interconnected devices, robots that do not have a humanoid form, gender parity, ground-control of aircraft, stealth aircraft, solar power, etc.

I guess: ->Recommended<- for intellectual value
I guess: ->Not Recommended<- for entertainment value

And we watched:

 #3  The A-Team [2010]
<=#3+*>"If there's a problem...If no one else can help...And if you can find them..."

Someone believed to be a friend is secretly causing disruption and confusion. They mislead and confuse things and misrepresent the good-guys. But, despite this, the good-guys prevail.

A fun movie!

I guess: ->R E C O M M E N D E D!<-

Last night I watched:

Freaks of Nature [2015]
<=>"Can't we all just get along?"

The town of Dillford has humans, vampires, and zombies living together in peace...except they become a lot less peaceful and a lot more suspicious and afraid when a flying saucer appears overhead. This movie is told from the vantage point of three high school kids (one human, one recently human but now a vampire, and one recently human but now a zombie). The zombie kid is the genius...but only if he goes awhile without eating any brains.

The movie is fun and funny.

Eeek! BRAINS! Recommended BRAINS!

If you are looking for a Wrong Planet analogy then I'd say that the Earthlings (human and otherwise) are the Allistics and the aliens in the flying saucer are the Autistics (literally on the wrong planet). When the flying saucer shows up the Earthlings get all agitated, angry, and violent even though the flying saucer people haven't done anything. It turns out they just hoped they'd be allowed to have some food from the local food factory and they became very concerned when just seeing the flying saucer caused Earthlings to get all agitated and violent. They try to intervene to calm the violence and prevent people from getting hurt but that just agitates the Earthlings even more.

I just watched A Man Called Otto, and subsequently read the original book. I enjoyed both, but I think the movie missed some vital parts of the book, like Ove's relationship with his father, Ove's rebuilding of his house after the men in white shirts tried to force him to sell, and his subsequent decades of misery fighting bureaucrats. It makes his anger in the movie more understandable. I liked his character quite a lot.

The Evil Dead Rise.

It turns out there's other copies of the Necronomicon, in particular one hidden in a bank vault beneath a low rent apartment building. After an earthquake, the children of a single mother discover the book, along with a recording by a priest who tried to stop it a century before. Fairly good story, and lots of gore, but without the humor that made the Bruce Campbell movies so memorable.

Asteroid City
Very good Wes Anderson film. I think it is not for mainstream audiences but I thought it had some many interesting ideas in it. Visually it is a real treat like all of his films.

Fun movie...and it has a good sequel. It was nice seeing a period-appropriate Sherlock Holmes with modern-day action and special effects. I hope there is another sequel, as well!

I'll admit I was initially upset and disappointed by the film, until it revealed the appearances of supernaturalness were actually just deception.

Last night I watched:

Who Framed Roger Rabbit [1988]
<=>"It's the story of a man, a woman, and a rabbit in a triangle of trouble."

How can it not be: GREAT! R E C O M M E N D E D ! !GREAT!

Besides being a good movie and a fun movie it was also a landmark movie!

Since it was about cartoon characters it naturally started with a cartoon. But when Baby Herman walks off the cartoon set he made history! Before this movie if cartoon and real-life characters were mixed in one camera shot, the camera was locked in place to make life easier for the animators. Not in this movie! This movie had shots mixing cartoon and real-life characters where the camera moved around and the cartoon characters interacted with real-life objects and had shadows...before CGI would make that easier to do.

To-date, this is the only movie where Walt Disney and Warner Bros. cartoon characters appear on-screen together.
*!*- Daffy Duck and Donald Duck appear together—and converse!
*!*- Bugs Bunny and Mickey Mouse appear together—and converse!

And...a bunch of other cartoon characters from a bunch of studios!

P.S. I'm old enough that I saw it in the theater when it came out. I went with a group from work. We all loved it! One gal, however, brought her two teenagers who sat in the row behind the adults...and were hanging their heads in shame because they were there with that group of strange grownups cheering a cartoon!
