"Strike" by Sergei Eisenstein. Not as good as "Battleship Potemkin" but still entertaining. The nice thing about Eisenstein's films is that although there is the element of Soviet propaganda in them, they remain believable stories about people in conflict. The Kino blu-rays of both films are quite good restorations and worth looking at if you like these sorts of films.

Several old Sherlock Holmes films on YouTube:

Sherlock Holmes (1922)
Sherlock Holmes' Fatal Hour (1931)
Sherlock Holmes and the Deadly Necklace (1962)

A big "meh" all around.

Just finished watching Insidious. Started off really slow to the point where I wasn't going to finish watching, then finished off strong. Nothing groundbreaking but worth a rent if you're a horror movie fan. Overall I'd give it a 6.5ish out of 10. Reminded me of an Are You Afraid Of The Dark episode.

We just watched Mulholand Falls this evening. Very good crime drama and late 1940's period piece.

Frankenstein (1910)

As a film, dull as cat litter. As a cultural artifact, fascinating.

Screamers: The Hunting (2009)

Anyone remember Screamers? No? Pretty good action movie from 1995. Based on a Philip K. Dick story. Not as good as Blade Runner or Total Recall but better than crap like Paycheck and Next. I wasn't planning on watching this piece of crap sequel, but it's on YouTube for free and I had nothing better to do. I should have spent the hour and a half watching cats fighting raccoons instead, because it predictably sucked.

A few days ago, I rented a copy of the
Temple Grandin biopic from a public library,
didn't manage to watch it until today.

Outstanding & all-around terrific.

Back on Sunday, my sister purchased a copy
of Airplane and we watched it with our mom.

We three laughed our asses off.

Wyrd Sisters, an animated version of Pratchett's book. The animation was execrable. I wish they would do adaptions of the Discworld novels and put as much effort into them as the Harry Potter series. I'm thinking of renting Gormenghast.

Harry Potter, Death Hallows 2. The series of movies is ended up at just the right time. The child stars of the cast have aged gracefully and it has ended well. Any more would not be good.
