Murder, She Baked: A Peach Cobbler Mystery (2016)
Ten minutes into this I thought to myself, "Here is a room with six women in it and four of those women are blondes. From the clothing, décor, and dialog this feels like a Hallmark film."
I was right.
It is a friendly, no threat to white middle class movie about murder. It is a very clean murder. The bullet wound is a tiny hole in the back, with the very
tiniest hint of blood, and a
tiny little spot of blood on the floor. Seriously, there is nothing inherently wrong with this kind of film. People just need to remember that it is a pleasant fantasy. I selected it psuedo-randomly. The title is an obvious nod to Murder, She Wrote, which was also escapist, although without the Hallmark touch.
This movie is part of an on going mystery series about a baker named Hanna Swensen. If you like Hallmark mysteries, and you are not too cynical, I would recommend it. As far as cynicism goes, I'm on the fence. It is well made and you don't have to think too much. I'm going to try to find the other films in the series. Although, I'm not renting them. They are "not must" watch movies.

Note: comment about the Murder, She Baked series. I watched one more in the series, and could not wait for it to end.
They are so sanitized. There is nothing wrong with that. It is probably very reassuring for the mental health of some people.
Will there ever be a Hallmark movie that holds my attention? Answer: Yes, once it is riffed by RiffTrax.
