What's your verdict?

I thought this was going to be a bad movie, but no it was a great movie. Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, Connie Nielsen and Denzel Washington were fantastic as was Ridley Scott's direction.

Last night we watched:

The Monster of Phantom Lake [2006]
<=>"The Unspeakable Horror that Menaced the Fate of the Human Race!"

IMDb estimates the budget for this film to be $3,500. 8O

First movie in the Mihmiverse.

Deliberately full of cliches and is lots of fun!

The Return Of Captain Invincible!

Purposely schlocky superhero flick, in which all American superhero Captain Invincible fights evil in the good old days, till he's called before the House Committee on UnAmerican Activities for being a premature anti fascist. Years later, when his nemesis, Mr. Midnight, is bent on genocide, he is found living in Australia as an alcoholic. Retrained to get his powers back, he fights evil again. And it's a musical, too!
Very funny, very goofy flick. Christopher Lee, as Mr. Midnight, can actually sing!

Last night we watched:

It Came from Another World! [2007]

Second movie in the Mihmiverse.

Deliberately full of cliches and is lots of fun!

Parts of it had my bride chuckling because she recognized allusions to the Star Trek universe.

Julie, 2004

A heartbroken Julie comes to Mumbai to make a living, but the fast-moving city forces her to take up prostitution as her profession.

You can watch it here, if you can understand Hindi

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXl8pbtRczk

It is one of those "hawt prostitute scores a rich hubby by the end" movies.

No T&A, even in the sex scenes.

It seemed to be, on one level, trying to make a Feminist statement that even prostitutes deserve love.

On the other hand, Julie gains a lot of advantages, just for being sexy and attractive.

The movie also makes the point that men are basically dogs, except for the extremely rich man at the end, who proposed marriage when they first met, with no knowledge of her profession.

So, I don't know. I'm probably not going to add this one to my list of Recommended Movies. It is probably better than "Pretty Woman", which isn't saying much.
