Last night we watched:

Destination: Outer Space [2010]

Fifth movie in the Mihmiverse.

\o/R E C O M M E N D E D ! !\o/
HUMOR

And, let me clarify. From what I've read and seen I think it is fair to say that the Mihmverse films are parodies of 1950's Science Fiction movies but I don't believe you need to be too familiar with those films to enjoy the Mihmverse. If you have had some exposure to the 1950's Science Fiction films then the HUMOR in the Mihmverse will be what I think you will enjoy.

I enjoy 1950's Science Fiction movies; my bride can sometimes tolerate one or two of them but generally does not like them. But we are both very entertained by the Mihmverse films we've seen so far!

Sorry About the Demon (2022)

Written and directed by Emily Hagins.
This was a horror comedy. I really enjoyed it.

Gapa, The Triphibian Monster.

Japanese made Godzilla rip off. A baby monster is taken back to Japan by an expedition working for a greedy Japanese tycoon, when the gigantic parents show up, destroying the country, in order to bring it back. It even has a God awful song in English subtitles!

Of course, I agree with you  ...but...

Destination: Outer Space is a sequel to Cave Women on Mars and sequels seldom win "Best Picture." Further, Destination: Outer Space is a Science Fiction movie, an additional reason it is unlikely to win "Best Picture." Facing both of those obstacles it was unfortunately unlikely that Destination: Outer Space could have been selected as "Best Picture."

It may have had a better chance to be to be recognized for its Special Effects. Even in this brief trailer for the film you can get a feel for the quality of the Special Effects:

See the spaceships traversing space and see Earth from space. See alien lifeforms, advanced electronics, and the robot!

Special effects, sound, makeup, and sometimes costume.
Sigh.

Matrubhoomi: A Nation Without Women https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0379375/

You can watch it with Hindi subtitles here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQq3YIQdahI

A rather disturbing dystopian movie about the Indian proclivity to kill female infants. The movie imagines a time when there are almost no women in the country. The few that exist are treated brutally. A father of 5 sons finds one to marry all of his sons together, and he adds himself to the rotation.

An essay on the movie: https://cafedissensus.com/2022/05/30/ut ... out-women/

Night Of The Lepus.

Pretty terrible seventies horror movie in which genetically altered rabbits in rural Arizona turn into carnivorous giants bent on killing humans. So bad it's good!

Just watched Borderlands/
Some big names, but a little juvenile.
Still enjoyable though.

As a fan, I can't bring myself to watch it. Watching the quality of the series' writing plummet for three installments straight was too much that I won't watch the film.

Vesper
Depressingly dystopian but brilliantly executed.

We Live In Time.

This is a romantic drama with Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield. It was...ok. Just. A bit of an unremarkable story which they tried to jazz up with a non-linear scene structure. A very unrealistic portrayal of cancer treatment. Andrew Garfield's character forgot to have any. Florence Pugh just about saves it.

A Russian movie called Coma
It's premise is that everybody in a coma enters a common fragmented dream.
The visuals are stunning. I cannot imagine how much CGI rendering time this movie took.
