Blackout.

A small town artist and activist realizes he's responsible for a series of murders taking place when he becomes a werewolf.
Okay horror movie. Tends to beat you over the head with its politics, though.

The Phantom Lake Kids in the Day the Earth Abruptly Almost Ended [2022]

Small scale, not ambitious. And still entertaining...though perhaps more so if you've seen a few other Mihmverse "Phantom Lake Kids" movies.

<=>FUN!

Timescape (2022)
streamed from Tubi

This is a simple, charming, family friendly film about an orphaned boy living briefly with his uncle, until he is caught up in a craft that travels through space and time, back to the age of dinosaurs.
There are a few leaps of logic/continuity issues, but that sometimes happens in family friendly films. I still really enjoyed the movie.

The film is Canadian, produced by MeniThings, among others. It was written and directed by Aristomenis Tsirbas.
The CGI effects were very good.

I found it interesting that on IMDB, it scores well in the U.S. and Canada, but poorly in Russia, Hungary, and Spain.
It was entertaining, humorous, and therefore enjoyable, for me, at least.

Exorcism of Fleete Marish (2022)
streamed on Tubi

Here is my snarky review:
Even the Mensa member Ellen Muth (Dead Like Me) could not save this film. She is not in much of it. Her character is sprinkled here and there, sort of tangentially related to the plot. About the Mensa thing. When she has been interviewed in the past, she is frequently asked about being a member of Mensa.

Here is my "take a step back" and "don't be a prick" review:
There were parts that were interesting.
It was in black and white, and few of the shots were very nice. When such shots show up, I found myself asking "did they use a color filter to create some dramatic contrast?" Honestly, such shots should not pop out like that, pulling one's attention away from the story. (my opinion)
The ending was genuinely interesting if one really digs deep into possibly symbolic irony and meanings.

Following Exorcism of Fleete Marish, the 2017 film Exorcism of the Dead auto started. I have chosen not to watch it. This was hard to do. I am somewhat impulsive when it comes to a movie I've never seen being served up to me. This one just had a woman full of body piercings and covered in colorful tattoos quiet her crying baby with a hatchet. Charming. 8O

But I need to run some errands, buy some thermal paste for a computer I'm assembling.
It is Saint Patrick's Day, so I need to put on something in the green spectrum so people do not pinch me. I need snakes to distract them.
I think I'll put Exorcism of the Dead in my watch list. It looks better than the previous film.

I watched Fame on Saturday. For something that didn't have a plot, it was pretty good.

The Cellar.

Psychological horror film, in which an upper middle class couple, after suffering a miscarriage, seek a new life with a new home. A mysterious, wealthy man allows them to take his house, but under the condition that they never look in the cellar. As their curiosity grows, the house seems to bring out the worst in both of them. As it turns out, these are not the first two people who had been given this Faustian bargain.
Pretty good film.

Almost saw the whole thing, but I didn't want the illusion of a good ending.

Annihilate All Humans! [2023]

More low-budget but good fun.

The Electric State (2025)
streamed on Netflix

An orphaned teen (Millie Bobby Brown) hits the road with a mysterious robot to find her long-lost brother, teaming up with a smuggler (Chris Pratt) and his wisecracking sidekick.

I wish I could claim to have written that sentence because it is concise. I only added the names of the actors. The rest is from IMDB.

It's dramatic and it is humorous.
I don't know if anyone else will like it, but I enjoyed it. It's PG-13, so it is pretty family friendly. However, once again, Stanley Tucci as disappointed me by being evil. :)

Death House.

A secret government prison for the worst serial killers suddenly loses power, letting the inmates loose. What's worse is, this prison is built over Hell, where the escapees plan to make their way to.
Hardly a great movie, but fun.

Is this trying to rip off the Destroy All Humans! series of games?

The game is a parody of old sci-fi films and so are the Mihmiverse films so I guess it is understandable they have similar feels....

Last night, however, it was not a Mihmiverse film I watched, but rather:

Last Woman on Earth [1960]
<=>"They fought for the Ultimate Prize!"

It is a Roger Corman film...and, I believe, a much larger budget than the Mihmiverse films.

Butterfly Kisses.

Found footage movie in which filmmakers try proving the existence of a bogeyman called Peeking Tom.
I had read on Facebook that this was one of the scariest movies ever made. No, no it isn't.

Just watched Moana 2 last night. It was a worthy sequel.

Last night I finally finished watching my way through the second eight episodes (disc 1, side B) of

The Outer Limits [1963–1965]
<=>"There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture."

- S1.E9, "Corpus Earthling" [Nov 18, 1963]
- S1.E10, "Nightmare" [Dec 2, 1963]
- S1.E11, "It Crawled Out of the Woodwork" [Dec 9, 1963]
- S1.E12, "The Borderland" [Dec 16, 1963]
- S1.E13, "Tourist Attraction" [Dec 23, 1963]
- S1.E14, "The Zanti Misfits" [Dec 30, 1963]
- S1.E15, "The Mice" [Jan 6, 1964]
- S1.E16, "Controlled Experiment" [Jan 13, 1964]

It is a wonderful show. The worst of its episodes are still very good.
