Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

I thought it was excellent. The pacing seemed a bit tighter than the first movie, if that makes sense. The action was definitely bumped up at least a few notches. I particularly liked the slo-mo action sequences. On more than one occasion I found myself literally on the edge of my seat, which doesn't happen very often at the movies. I also liked the storyline. IMO, if you enjoyed the first movie, you'll probably enjoy the second one.

Dark Days a classic documentary about the homeless of NYC.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Both parts. The ending is awesome, by the way. Those of you who saw HP and the Philosopher's Stone (in other words, every single person in the world ) will know what I am talking about.

I just saw Mission Impossible 4.

It was awesome, so go see it!

On Sunday, I saw Sherlock Holmes 2 at my neighborhood movie theater.

RDJ and Jude Law pull it off perfectly and the movie is a
damn good action movie. Fast-paced and worth seeing.

On Saturday, I saw Hugo.

Kids were good, adult actors were good, and
there is a cameo by Martin Scorsese.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes - Very good movie. I loved Cesar. The ending felt kind of rushed though, and I thought it was stupid that the scientists didn't quarantine the guy who inhaled the virus when his mask fell off.

My wife and I just caught The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo yesterday, Christmas Eve. Despite being overly long, it was highly enjoyable, and kept me at the edge of my set. I had seen the Swedish version, and while there were some aspects I preferred with the original, I actually liked the American version better, as extra scenes were added, such as Lispeth's relationship with her former guardian, who had been incapacitated by a stroke, rather than just dying, as in the Swedish version. Also, the American remake had a sadder, more somber ending.

Did you know there are three Swedish novels? The last one is The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest where Lisbeth is charged with murder and goes on the run.

I don't remember if it's mentioned in the first book/movie, but Lisbeth has a twin sister. I wonder if Larsson was intending on expanding on that theme.

My wife and I just rented Straw Dogs, and Apollo 18. Both are great movies, and I'd highly recommend them.

Surprisingly candid coldwar era documentary on nuclear war. It's worth a click.
