Troll Hunter, a Norwegian creature feature. Very Blair Witch Projecty. Trolls looked a little too cute.

I just got back from seeing The Three Stooges.

Despite their checkered box office history, the Farrelly Brothers
did a good job on this. Chris Diamantopoulos was spot-on as Moe,
very uncanny.

The movie is modeled on the original shorts, each part in the
movie about 30 minutes long.

Despite my love for Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead, I had never gotten around to seeing this. When I saw that someone had uploaded it to YouTube, I no longer had any excuse.

I turned it off about half an hour in.

It's f**king awful. There isn't a single likable character – everyone is an obnoxious prick who speaks only in yells, and the actors are so bad that they wouldn't feel out of place on a soap opera. The effects are good, much better than those in Dawn of the Dead, but anyone who watches these movies for the effects is missing the point.

Awful.

The last film I saw was on TV a few months ago and we'd recorded it and watched it a few nights ago. It was 'The Devil's Backbone', a Spanish film, by Guillermo del Toro, with subtitles. It gets 7.5 on IMDB and I would have said 8.

I love The Devil's Backbone. It's a great horror flick.

It's has a very similar feel to 'Pan's Labyrinth', by the same director. That one I'd give a 9.5.

If it's on Netflix I'm going to look it up. Sounds good.

These are two complete different stories and titles, the movie with David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly is called Labyrinth and the other one from Guillermo Del Toro is called Pan's Labyrinth.

Waltzing With Bashir.
Animated movie about the Israeli invasion of Lebanon told in flashbacks, where a guilt ridden Israeli soldier recovers repressed memories of how innocent Palestinian refugees had been massacred by a savage, Pro-Israeli militia - while he and the other Israelis had done nothing. Very disturbing, very good movie.
