Character has that innocent/naive sort of personality, which is one possible version of how someone with ASD can be.
Kinda' like "Woody" from "Cheers"-though I know people frequently cite Cliff Clavin as being the obvious Aspie in that group. Woody has some of those traits, just with differing expression/manifestation-and, in part (or so the storyline asserts) is due to rural sheltered wholesome environment/culture he grew up in before coming to Boston (but still, the character retains many of his Aspie-like personality features, such as gullibility & literalness).

A theoretical (again, fictional) Aspie (albeit of a very different sort), in my opinion: Dr John Becker from "Becker".
It's not an evidence/criteria judgment I'm making, just a "feeling", sense of recognition of & identification with commonalities in personality of character & myself. He's cynical, expects people to behave logically, overanalyzes-and often causes more problems for self due to being undiplomatically honest (being more utilitarian than sentimental in his communication).

I haven't read all of the posts in this tread so I don't know if he was already mentioned but I'd have to say Dr. Sheldon Cooper in Big Bang Theory is an Aspie.

The main character from "What About Bob?" has to be either aspie or high functioning autism.

[Also, what about Robert Goren from "Law and Order: Criminal Intent"?[/quote]

Yes, I completely agree with this one. I think he's the most interesting character in the series.

Does anyone remember Vincent D'Onofrio in "Men in Black"? He was really great in that role.

I strongly agree. However, he's probably the extreme on the spectrum. He is so much fun to watch & I find myself relating as well as laughing at his behaviors.

Aspie Score: 173/200, NT score 31/200: very likely an Aspie
5/18/11: New Aspie test: 72/72
DX: Anxiety plus ADHD/Aspergers: inconclusive

All four of the main characters are probably Aspies. Sheldon is the funniest though. There was even one episode where he said something like, "I will continue to be mystified and repulsed by social relationships." Even before I knew about Asperger's I identified with that somewhat :)

How about Peter Parker? If you don't know who he is, I WON'T bother explaining

Professor Mephesto from South Park seems to have aspergers, he's always obsessed with gene splicing animals with inanimate objects...such as chipmunks with provolone cheese.

Thought of another one: Debra Winger in A Dangerous Woman. It was released in May 1994. I remember thinking that I related to the character who is was too honest for her own good. Anyone remember that movie?

People might of mentioned this, but Detective Goren from Law and Order: Criminal Intent. Can't get a girl to save his life, but an extremely keen observer, and excellent interrogator. Nobody "gets" him except his partner, 'cause he's so socially akward. Plus, he has a memory like a steel trap for facts.

Don't insult Aspies by lumping Michael Scott in with us :) The fact that he didn't know how to talk until after he was 5 years old should disqualify him.
