Carnival Of Souls. Decent remake of the black and white surrealist horror film of the same name.

Same time, next year (1978). not the best alan alda film, the begining was awkward but i did still enjoy it and, unlike so many of the films i watch, it had an ending that could be described as purely happy.

I've seen it at least 3 times this year. Not bored of it at all.

Finding Neverland

In my opinion, this is one of the best Johnny Depp movies I have ever seen, even counting the Tim Burton ones - which is saying a lot, given that I am a huge fan of Burton's work. This gem is about JM Barrie, the creator of Peter Pan (who of course was portrayed by Johnny Depp), and his relationship with the Llewellyn-Davies family. It had wonderful messages about imagination and staying young at heart, which really touched me.

I have never cried so hard over a movie before. Some movies make a couple of tears roll down my face, but by the time Finding Neverland reached its very bittersweet conclusion, I was crying hysterically. (Not that that's a bad thing though.)

Platoon last week. New favorite movie.

Saw the Expendables 2 last night; it was some fun cheese.

the dark knight rises. the hell did i just watch?! !! !! batman is a fascist!! ! i feel dirty. the whole thing is about maligning social movements and making the argument for crushing them. i saw occupy in the film. and they kept mispronouncing ras el ghul. i feel worse because a small part of me liked it.

also watching the Autism Enigma. it's total sh!t. no really- it's god aweful. psuedo science. incredibly ableist. like i knew it would be from the description(i hate the ABC). both the ABC and the programme describe autism as something horrid and make it clear that there is no cure as if this is a problem and talk of the rising Dx rates as something scary. the programme blames autism(especially CDD) on gut bacteria, medication and diet. and it's all about the parents and how they feel. they feel like their kids are broken, like there is something missing from them, like they are a problem. did i mention they compare our behaviour to rat behaviour but have no fear it was in a scientific study. totally ok when you're talking about a developemental disorder. i mean rats, people, whats the difference? everything is wrong with this documentary.
