I loved that film, can't say it was that disturbing though (well, maybe the ending :p).

For me, it would have to be "Requiem For A Dream" (people doubting Marlon Wayans' ability to take dramatic roles should really see this movie and see for themselves how good he can act). It's a movie about different addictions ranging from drugs to television and whatnot. I ended up feeling sick to my stomach watching that movie, it was so disturbing. If this movie doesn't make people get off drugs and stay off it, I don't know what would. This movie makes those scary public service announcements of the 80's like an afterschool special.

Yea I second that one. When I saw the thread title that was the first thing that came to mind, and I was 99% sure somebody would have mentioned it already. I saw it in theaters and I have no clue how I got through it, then a couple years later some friends of mine decided to watch it--I tried and made it maybe 1/2 hour in before I had to leave.

Jacob's Ladder. Any movie where a character 'vibrates' in a hyper fast, totally unnatural way. That's too much. Sad It's very disturbing.

That particular aspect of Jacob's ladder is really disturbing, I agree. But despite those parts that is one of my very favorite movies (close to top 5). I just look away when that happens.

I agree about Happiness. I found it disturbing, but not the most disturbing I have seen. It made me laugh because I was so uncomfortable... it was really gross esp at the end.

The most disturbing film I saw, I am not going to even write it because someone might decide to get it out and I would never contribute to the dvd revenue for it, I hope it ends up disintegrating from noone watching it.

For me, it was "The Crying Game." Maybe not so disturbing as what I'm reading about here (now I want to add these movies to my Netflix queue), but I screamed when the reveal came and it still haunts me.

Clockwork Orange: This movie actually gave me nightmares.

ReAnimator: I haven't seen the entire movie, but I saw the "Giving head" scene.

It: This started my phobia of clowns. I was so scared that I was scared of taking a bath for a month because I thought the clown's head was going to come out of the drain and eat me.

Ichi the Killer is probably top of my list
It disturbs me, but my god I love it! It's so brutal it's genius
And Kakihara might have something to do with my fascination as well...

IRREVERSIBLE head bashing scene. yumme.

it wasnt pointless
it was the accumulated and welled up animal rage - from the following rest of the movie ;)

yeah but putting it at the beginning made it seem pointless... it would've been so much more justified if you actually knew what was the motiff that led to it.

oh yes, but that was a good effect in my opinion. you sit there w your popcorn and watered-out pepsi :D

Oldboy wasn't too bad - it's definitely a film that's hard to watch more than, once though. After you've lost the blissful ignorance ._.

28 days later, I found the simple idea of a fast track version of rabies which turns people into nasty murderers horrible. It gave me quite a fright. 28 weeks later did not give as big a scare it was just gross and disgusting.

As a young child, I was horrified by Murphy's death scene at the beginning of Robocop. Watching that part today still has a powerful effect on me. You want to know why? Because it happens in real life.

Disney’s Snow White I saw when I was four, and I had nightmares about the poison apple for years after that.

The Devils by Ken Russell, based on a true story of politics in France in the 17th century, full of intrigue and power play. The town was Loudon, and there was an Abbey where the nuns ended up in a frenzy of so called possession, mainly because they were starved of affection, and Abbess (Redgrave) had her eyes on the handsome priest (Reed). I won’t go into the story, you can find all the details on IMDB. The torture and burning scenes got to me, and they were very realistic and horrifying. I could not watch them. It was a very brilliant film, nonetheless. I first saw it when I was about 23, and I recently saw it on DVD, and was able to better cope with it, not that ameliorated the effect, but on the computer screen, it was not as overwhelming.

Mysterious skin. I'm not easily shocked but that movie was stuck in my mind for days.
