I'm a sci-fi addict, I saw most of the series first time round, right from Gerry Anderson (Fireball XL5, Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlett, Stingray), Doctor Who, Twilight Zone, The Invaders, Star Trek (of course) as a kid in the 60s.
What's not to love?
Almost everything mentioned was great in its own way.
Blakes 7, V, Red Dwarf, all the 'Treks, Stargate, X-files, ...

But ... I really didn't enjoy Lexx at all. Don't know why, it repulsed me.

Babylon 5 - Not only my favorite sci fi series, but my favorite TV show of all time. The fact that the entire series was planned out before a single minute was ever filmed really helps. With so many series, even good series, you can tell that the writers are just making it up as they go. Not with Babylon 5.

For me, Fringe, The X Files, Deep Space Nine, and Star Trek The Next Generation come to mind.

My #1 is Deep Space Nine--no other iteration of Star Trek had this level complexity or the guts to let their 'heroes' be so human.

#2 Battlestar Galactica (remake) Mostly for the same reasons I loved DS9--interesting, deeply flawed characters, challenging moral ambiguity (most of the time- I'm looking at you A Measure of Salvation ) and over all a good story. Although I must admit I got very frustrated with pacing when it aired on TV and the 'story drift' in seasons 3 & 4. Still, looking back, it was a great show.

#3 Stargate SG-1 Because you can't be flawed and morally ambiguous all the time!! ! SG-1 is just great pulp sci-fi! The heroes are heroic, the villains are evil and it doesn't take itself seriously at all! Jack O'Neill should go down in history with Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon!

I have to agree DS9 was quite good, but what about Voyager or Enterprise?

Babylon 5 and the BSG remake would be tops for me. Fringe is great too - not sure if its "sci-fi" per se, maybe more "paranormal"? If we expand the definition of Sci-Fi to Fringe, then I'd also include Lost as well.

Lost was Sci-Fi

I liked Voyager, but it never really grabbed me. I've only seen a few episodes of Enterprise--I guess I should queue it up at Netflix.

Next to Firefly, the new Battlestar Galactica was my fave.

Don't forget "First Wave".

I enjoyed it the same way I enjoyed -The Invaders- back in the 1960s.

Aliens from a Dying Planet. They have come to Earth to make it THEIR world.

I would have to go for Startrek the Next Generation and Stargate.

The English are doing a great job with Torchwood and Sanctuary.

I must admit I get a big kick out of watching old science fiction from the 1950's.
They are so bad they are good. All those poorly made monsters kicking down cardboard buildings.

I have not seen that many but here are my limited choices.

1 - V (the original mini series) I was only a teen when I first saw it and the story and plot I thought were amazing. And quite scary too. Loved Diana. I reckon the new series will not be anywhere near as good.

2 - Star Trek Voyager - I watched this by accident. My friend had all the videos for it and once when I stayed with him I ended up watching all of them in about 3 days.

3 - hmmmmmm maybe Space 1999. Loved it when I was a kid and I always wanted the power to turn into any animal I wanted.

All time fave is the new BSG

Other strong contenders:

Babylon 5
Star Trek all franchises. Yes, even Voyager
Firefly

Sentimental favourites:

Space: 1999
