I loved the jammy dodger thing, I spotted it right away because I'm addicted to them.

The cracks are definitely getting a bit annoying. All the previous seasons had running themes, hidden messages and stuff, and I completely missed them! Which just made me want to go back immediately and watch it again to spot them all. Having the cracks looming everywhere is getting a bit tiresome. We get it. There's cracks in the universe and you'll tell us why in the last few episodes. It'd be better if they were at least slightly hidden, not in the middle of the shot with nothing else happening on screen.

The new daleks are okay but they look more plasitc than metal and the eye looks weird. I also don't like how the doctor's voice sounds when we see him from a dalek's perspective. I don't mind the different colours but it's what makes them look like giant plastic toys instead of metal rubbish bins, I mean aliens. 8) I'm sure the people inside are glad for more space though. Looking at behind the scenes stuff it looked pretty cramped in the old ones.

I hadn't noticed the thing with Rory's badge until a few hours ago when I saw it mentioned on a message board. Interesting stuff.

Saw The Eleventh Hour on ABC1 tonight. Quite good intro to the Doctor, but wasn't so sure about the aliens involved. Good development of the relationship between Amy and the Doctor, though there were times where I thought, "Ugh, you daft girl!" when Amy did something pretty bloody stupid. More to the boyfriend than met the eye, though.

I hate to agree with those of you who don't like the Return of the daleks episode... but I agree. It didn't feel as good as the past couple. Too fast if you ask me. They could have done a lot more with the whole 'friendly dalek' thing. It would have been funny. I think more of the action should have taken place on the ground with the 'friendly' daleks and there should have been an invasion going on in space without the doctor knowing anything. That is sort of what happened but it didn't develop enough.

Also with technicolour daleks, prepare for another 5 models out on the shelves... Mum told me to stop buying the large scale ones!

Another thing... did anyone understand what the heck was going on at the end? I sure didn't... (except for the crack. That was painstakingly obvious...)

I would urge you to look into an old Patrick Troughton story called "Power of the Daleks". It was the first story with him in the role, and sadly it was wiped - the audio, however, survives. It was clearly an influence on this story, down to the inflection of "I am your soldier!" (in PotD, they say "I am your servant!" in the same manner). The Doctor tries to convince a colony of humans that the Daleks are hostile, but the Daleks are friendly, servile, apparently just machines. Political rumblings between the colony's government and a rebel group cloud the issue even further and no-one realises the Daleks are rebuilding and planning to take over until it's too late.

The key thing is that the Doctor is warning everyone that the Daleks are dangerous, and no-one listens to him. He even gets arrested, framed for murder and isn't even thanked when he saves the colony at the end! Compare that to Matt Smith pounding that Dalek with a wrench whilst a bunch of soldiers just stand around watching!

This story could have been so much better. The plot was given away far too early.

You mean the stuff about defusing the android bomb by making it emote? That didn't make any sense at all. I'd have been ashamed to write such drivel as that scene.

I believe Matt Smith said "The final end", wasn't that line in Power of the Daleks?

No, it was at the end of the 7-parter "Evil of the Daleks" to signify...

*SPOILER ALERT*

The Daleks' own civil-war, ending in self-genocide.

*END SPOILERS*

"Yes....the *final* end!" - Pat Troughton

I've got to agree about the Dalek episode not being as good as some of the others. There are always a few episodes that aren't quite as good as the others, but still pretty good.

I'm already nervous about the angels! They freak me out.

^I love the angels! I simply cannot contain my excitement for the next episode!
I hope it's creepy.

AAAAAAAAA!! !! !!

I have to wait another week to see the conclusion?

This has to be the best episode since 'Forest of the Dead'.

Lucky sods. We're only getting The Beast Below here tonight in Australia, and from what I've read of The Time of Angels, it's pretty damn good....

It looks like the concluding part is going to be a bit more explicit about that not-at-all-subtle crack in the wall that appears in every episode. Hurrah!

I may sound smug for this, but I twigged to the fact the statues didn't have two heads a few minutes before the Doctor...

Watched The Beast Below tonight. Enjoyable, but pretty dark and creepy. Amy saving the Doctor from making a big mistake. A bit contrived as to how she put the pieces together, but I love how every assumption made in the story was subverted.

I would have worked it out too... um... (thinks of lame excuse...) Its because there was a perception filter around my TV... yeah, that will work

That aside, that episode was truly awesome. I was screaming so loud every time the angel jumped out of nowhere!! !

So did I, as soon as they mentioned the two heads thing I was like "why don't the statues have two heads then?" I didn't connect it as them being angels though until the Doctor paused as he was figuring it out and I thought it was something to do with the fact that the statues didn't have faces, which somehow translated in my mind as meaning they don't have to worry about being seen anymore (we can't see you so you can't see us  ).

Loved the episode though, I can't wait for the second half. It kills me that we have to wait a week. Also, I'm not sure if I like River or not. I mean I do like her, but she's kind of a big know-it-all at times and that bothers me. Still, I'm certainly interested in seeing how her story unfolds.
