I hate to agree with those of you who don't like the Return of the daleks episode... but I agree. It didn't feel as good as the past couple. Too fast if you ask me. They could have done a lot more with the whole 'friendly dalek' thing. It would have been funny. I think more of the action should have taken place on the ground with the 'friendly' daleks and there should have been an invasion going on in space without the doctor knowing anything. That is sort of what happened but it didn't develop enough.
Also with technicolour daleks, prepare for another 5 models out on the shelves... Mum told me to stop buying the large scale ones!
I would urge you to look into an old Patrick Troughton story called "Power of the Daleks". It was the first story with him in the role, and sadly it was wiped - the audio, however, survives. It was clearly an influence on this story, down to the inflection of "I am your soldier!" (in PotD, they say "I am your servant!" in the same manner). The Doctor tries to convince a colony of humans that the Daleks are hostile, but the Daleks are friendly, servile, apparently just machines. Political rumblings between the colony's government and a rebel group cloud the issue even further and no-one realises the Daleks are rebuilding and planning to take over until it's too late.
The key thing is that the Doctor is warning everyone that the Daleks are dangerous, and
no-one listens to him. He even gets arrested, framed for murder and isn't even thanked when he saves the colony at the end! Compare that to Matt Smith pounding that Dalek with a wrench whilst a bunch of soldiers just stand around watching!
This story could have been so much better. The plot was given away far too early.

Another thing... did anyone understand what the heck was going on at the end? I sure didn't... (except for the crack. That was painstakingly obvious...)
You mean the stuff about defusing the android bomb by making it emote? That didn't make any sense at all. I'd have been ashamed to write such drivel as that scene.
