I heard that a lot of the hate started to go around when it was becoming really popular among females, and then a lot of them started going "Why are you not more like Edward", guys started to be held to unrealistic levels. Not to mention they were being told they were worse then a 100 hundred year old sparkly guy who stalks a teenage girl.
Whats worse is seeing all the middle aged women fall over these young actors, everyone would seriously be up in arms if the genders were reversed.I don't think I need to get started on vampires in the sunlight, hey vampires don't need to catch fire, that was invented in the movie Nosferatu, but usually had some hinderence not looking like diamonds.
Oh really? I haven't heard of any such riots at the hundreds of thousands of
strip clubs
boob bars
porn conventions
Hooters
Give me a break.
The same scene in that demotiv happens every day a thousand times over,
usually in a far more sexualized context than Twilight's PG themes,
only it's old men ogling young women.
The genders ARE reversed this time- and that seems to be a cause for a lot of the hostility.
You seem a bit dismissive on this...if there were an equal and opposite reaction where men were, say, openly drooling (to the point of creating signs advertising their advanced age) over someone like Hermoine Granger from Harry Potter, would you not feel that it's going a bit far?
Note: I don't particularly find
Rule 34 to be an equal reaction as I described above.
