Anything by Hitchcock, Kubrick, of witch my personal favourite is Clockwork, I have to give one to DePalma's Scarface and Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds.

How Could I have forgotten The Wild Bunch ? That movie changed violence on film forever.

PS

Also, I'd just like to clarify my thoughts on Fist Full of Dollars vs. The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly....

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly is a good movie and great art, but the often overlooked Fist Full of Dollars defined an entire genre... So many good films, including The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly , would not exist if not for Fist Full of Dollars .

PPS
R.I.P. Ernie.... :(

In a similar vein, I might recommend El Mariachi

Gone With The Wind (which I concede grudgingly - racist, cracker movie)

Consider when it was made. 1937 - 1938. There were Jim Crow laws still in effect then. Many people alive at the time were born during the Civil War and the Reconstruction period which followed. The country was racist to the bone (and it still is to some degree). The main difference between then and now is we are shagrined and ashamed of being racist (these days). In 1939 people were racist in a way that was as natural as breathing. They were scarcely aware of it.

Yes - I know. But that doesn't mean I have to approve of it.

Approval is irrelevant. Things were as they were, good, bad or indifferent.

By the way, Rhett Butler as portrayed by Clark Gable was the antithesis of a know nothing Southern racist. He was savy and cynical and no Kentucky Colonel. If the rebs had been as smart as Rhett Butler there never would have been a Civil War.

I agree about Rhett Butler's portrayal in the movie, 100%. But I understand that after the war, he joined the KKK in the book.

LOL, Clive Barker is great! If I find out that Clive is involved in a project, I know I will have to see and become obsessed with the project.
