The Mist

SPOILER

At the ending, a guy kills the three people who are in the car with him (including his son) so they won't get killed by the aliens/monsters, but doesn't have a bullet left for himself. He stumbles out of the car, only to find out that the army has cleared the situation and they all would have survived if they had waited just a minute longer.

That really hit me hard.

Requiem for a Dream! it's a great film but it's so depressing!

Mary & Max, just thinking about it is making me cry!

This. I'm yet to find a more depressing film.

Have to agree with you about The Purple Rose of Cairo, very disappointing ending. Why she trusted that lying toe-rag I don't know! Tom was such a sweetie.
I Am Legend, I can't remember the ending to that, I think I switched off after the poor dog Samantha got killed. Wil Smith wanted to adopt that dog, but the film comp wouldn't let him.
I've never seen The Plague Dogs, but from it's title, I don't think I'd like it.

Well Boys Don't Cry is a true story, so that's unsurprising really. Brandon Teena was a real guy, who was really murdered when they found out he was trans*
There's a downer for you.

How bout Million Dollar Baby. If anyone deserves to die (and I hope I don't sound too cruel for saying this because they are fictional after all) it's Hilary Swank's character's family for being such as bunch of jerks. Eastwood should' ave give em one, a punch that is.

Cast Away.

He makes it back to civilization but must start all over again. Not to mention, he also lost Wilson. :(

I'm surprised nobody mentioned the ending of "Terminator 3:Rise of the Machines": The impending nuclear holocaust is initiated by Skynet. It begins a series of nuclear attacks on various cities, commencing Judgment Day.
