My sister and I both watched The Price is Right when we were kids.

It's coming to GSN this Monday, April 1st, at 9:30 AM Eastern time. (And no, it's not an April Fool's joke.) People thought they'd never be able to get the rights to it, but after all these years they finally have. It's the first time this has been seen anywhere on American TV since the early 90's, unless you count the (IMO) dreadful 2006 revival, Temptation. I'm hoping its sister show Scrabble might not be too far behind - that's one of my all time favorites - but they might have to negotiate with Hasbro who owns the board game.

That aside, I've loved game shows all my life. (Well okay, I went through a pseudo-rebellious teen phase where I stopped watching them.) I'm especially partial to ones from the 70's, 80's, and early 90's. Some favorites include:
- Jeopardy!
- Wheel Of Fortune (mostly episodes from the 90's on back - it's a little too flashy for my liking nowadays)
- Family Feud (Ray Combs was my favorite host but I've liked Richard Dawson, John O'Hurley, and now Steve Harvey as well)
- Password (particularly the Plus and Super versions)
- The various incarnations of the Pyramid (not so much the Donny Osmond version, but I did like the recent GSN version)
- Scrabble (as mentioned above)
- Card Sharks (except the awful 2001 version)
- (Classic) Concentration
- To Tell the Truth
- Blockbusters
- Now You See It
- Lingo (Chuck Woolery version)
- Russian Roulette
- Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego?

I have watched Family Feud on You Tube. But I do prefer British version though. Blockbuster is another good one in the UK they have recently brought it back.
Wheel Of Fortune UK was good back in the 90s except a lot of people who have seen the UK version that are not from the UK don't understand the rules to the British version.

If I remember rightly, Jim Perry (better known in Canada for Definition or Headline Hunters hosted the original version
on NBC. Add $5 to your score for the correct answer, subtract $5 for a wrong answer. Three times per game, the leader is offered
the chance to buy a prize in return for some of the money from that contestant's cash score. If two players are tied for the
lead, a Dutch auction is held between the two players; first to buzz in buys. Of course, largest cash score at the end of the game
wins and gets to either buy a grand prize and retire as champion or keep playing and save up to try to buy a better prize.

The original US version actually was hosted by Jack Kelly from 1969-71, and then by Joe Garagiola from 1971-74. Jim Perry's version was a later revival in the 80's, based on the successful Australian version at the time. That's the one I'm most familiar with. The most recent U.S. adaption, called Temptation, was also based on the Australian version of the time, but our version got badly butchered in mine and a lot of other game show fans' opinions.

I was aware of Jim Perry's prior career in Canada as a game show host, though I've never gotten around to watching any of those shows. In the US, Perry was also known for hosting Card Sharks from 1978-81. And he also had a stint as a DJ on the legendary New York radio station WABC, which was a very popular music station at the time but has since gone talk.

(US 80s version) They then ruined the premise of the show by changing the end by first making it a matching game to determine what prize the contestant got. Then they made it worse by making it an end game of having to answer 4-5 six-word questions in a short amount of time, where the words of the question would pop in 1 at a time, way too slowly for anyone to answer them in the allotted time.

I watch Jeopardy! daily. The rest I can do without, although I do switch over to Family Feud during the commercials, and turn on Wheel of Fortune later since it's the only thing worth watching in that timeslot.

I remember watching this version as a kid; it was OK, but it was too desperate of an attempt to salvage the show's flagging ratings at the time.

I thought Gene Rayburn, Charles Nelson Reilly, Brett Somers, and Richard Dawson were amazing on Match Game. Classic game show that holds up well today.

It's mine too! We both have a like of it.

Nice! I remember seeing the Winner's Big Money Game; some say it's what killed the show, but I have no problem with it.

It could be exciting at times, I will admit, especially on the higher money levels, but I personally like it from when it had the shopping (I've been seeing a lot of that from YouTube).
