I started this thread 2 years and I didn't get any notification that someone had recently replied to it. I guess that subscriptions to most threads on the old WP site must of been canceled due to the migration. I see that Lord of the Rings is still in the lead though, even after the new votes.
I see. I have never been in a situation like this before, where I am supposed to choose between these two, so.....I am unsure. And, if I did choose one of them, I would feel like I am leaving the other out. That can cause me internal conflict.

I wasn't aware it was a contest....IDK I think both are pretty cool, both are pretty in depth like the creators of both came up with vast worlds/lands with different distinct cultures/societies/governments/ways of life, that are quite frankly hard to separate from the real world.....like they're both kind of out there but who knows what if there where elves and dwarves and orcs at one point? what if there is a realm where such things exist...who knows maybe something like Star Wars has taken place somewhere in the universe. I cannot say all movies/books of these genres give me that feeling...I also like with Star Wars how its made to look how people think futuristic stuff would look...but if you pay attention the story takes place long ago.
Also not to delve off topic but since Star Wars was brought up I have to say I did always like that one, found Star Trek boring...however I liked the newer film of it, have yet to see the second one but it looks cool as well....I guess the movie version is more fast paced and action packed whereas the old show was very slow paced. It is one thing where I prefer the newer version to the old.

Frodo = Luke Skywalker (in terms of being the main hero)
Both are more or less the main hero of each story and both are tasked with something (though the context of they're tasked with are quite different). Luke Skywalker is tasked with becoming a Jedi knight and Frodo is tasked with bearing the burden of the one ring. Arguably, I'd say that Frodo has the greater burden here, since he has to resist the evil of the ring, while as Jedi knight, Luke Skywalker is more of a hero who's supposed to defend the innocent. The both get tempted by the "dark side" in a sense except that Frodo eventually succumbs to it while Luke successfully overcomes it.
Well technically speaking it has yet to be seen if Luke successfully overcomes the darkside....if I am not mistaking, the story is set to continue, maybe he does at some point succumb, because I think he was still pretty young where the old ones left off so much life ahead of him. Unless of course the New star wars doesn't continue that story and just creates a bunch of new characters loosely tied to the original Star Wars...which I am hoping they don't do. I was disappointed to learn Disney or whatever bought it so they'll be producing it....but then again I was satisfied with Pirates of The Caribbean so perhaps they will do it justice.....if not there's going to be lots of angry star wars fans lol.
