Galaxy Angel is a comedy series that I like. It get a bit lame at times but still fun. DNA2 is a good one if you like bizarre humor.
Ah My Goddess if you are into mythology and romantic comedy.

Oops. . .sorry for the edit. Another one is Case Closed.

Gantz, both the Anime and Manga. Manga can be found here - www.thespectrum.net - in the manga scans section, and the Anime can be found here - http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?u ... 003&page=1
It's a bit sleazy at times, to be honest... but the story is fairly good, and it has a good level of violence. Sure, it's no Berserk or Deathnote... but it kills time nicely.

I want to get some anime DVDs somehow, but I don't know what I'm into as I there's no decent anime here on TV. I used to like shonen like Duel Masters, but that got lame. I also liked Pokemon and Hamtaro, which also got lame. I saw one episode of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, and I loved it. I wouldn't mind getting that on DVD, if I can find it here...

Try amazon.com. They have those listed I think.

I am going to say, and I probably will get flamed for this, but EVA is one crappy anime, at least in my opinion. I never got anything out of it and I personally didn't find it very good at all.

Some anime I would recommend.

Full length films: Anything from Studio Ghibli and Akira.

For series I would go with Ghost In the Shell: Both the first Stand alone complex and Stand alone complex the 2nd Gig(which is its second season and a third might be on the way), I would also recommend Big O an anime I like as well as Escaflowne and Cowboy Bebop.

Current anime I am watching is Bleach which is decent and Eureka 7 which is very good.

Hope that helps.

I found myself becoming quickly bored by Neon Genesis Evangelion. Yes, Mr. Creator-Whose-Name-I-Can't-Recall, you've had some bad things happen inside your head. Untreated chronic depression can do that to you, especially if you then go talk to a Freudian about it. But really, is there anything quite so boring as someone recounting his personal experiences in therapy? Even in metaphor?

I can recommend the first two Tenchi Muyo series, colloquially known as Tenchi Muyo and Tenchi Universe. The third one, Tenchi In Tokyo, gets a little too cutesy for my tastes, although I will always treasure Tenchi's confrontation with the Big Bad at the end - he charges up, oversized sword in hand, then abruptly plants the point in the ground, slaps the Big Bad so hard her little coat flies off, and proceeds to tell her she doesn't have to be lonely - she can come live with him! Comedy gold, I tells ya!

Also, I can unreservedly recommend Cowboy Bebop and Hand Maid May. Others have made some good recommendations, too!

I am NOT allowed to use online stores. Also, where can I get anime from? Store wise.

Amazon.com is just a starting point. You can research some of the merchants that do business through them.

DJango is one such retailer. Also try the anime network.

I have an amazon.com account. If you tell me the city and state where you live I can look the info for your local anime retailers.

I just remembered a website where you can download complete episodes/series of several titles www.realitylapse.com (the draw back is they are all subtitled).

If you're in the States, look for Suncoast Video - they can usually be found in malls. There's often a pretty decent anime section there. Beyond that, check out larger comic-book stores, and used record stores - there's one here in Tacoma, WA, that actually has a complete set of the first six seasons of Ranma 1/2! (Pity I haven't got the several hundred dollars they want for it...)

This is true Suncoast is located practically everywhere and has quite a bit of inventory. But some retail stores sell their DVDs at lower price via Amazon.com. Heck, I bought complete series new for under $60.00 (Please Teacher-Please Twins, DNA2, DearS, Angel Tales).

Let me see what I can "dig up" (stores in your town/area).

Example-I just found (New) Neon Genesis-Evangeline Complete Collection for $42.50 at animesellingcritic in Florida.

Oh, also try local comic book shops.

Just thought of something. . .check your local library for anime. That way you can check out and watch it (at least the first dvd)to see if the series is worth buying.
