Spider-Man 3
I found Spiderman 3 to be very dissappointing. The movie died once the black suit took over IMO. They should have just focused on developing the Sandman as a character and as a villian. It would have allowed for a tighter script and the Peter/MJ drama probably would have been more effective.
On a side note, I hope this summer's movies turn out better than Spiderman 3. All we really have to look forward to now is the next Harry Potter movie (Yes!) and Pirates of the Caribean: At Worlds End which doesn't really engage on an emotional level (again, IMO).
I thought it was just " he gets flashy ' big city ' duds " ! !! !! !! !! !!
Oh man I have a GIF of that dance but I think it's too big to post here...

Don't forget Transformers, and the new Fantastic 4/Silver Surfer movie.
I like Harry Potter, but haven't liked the last two films, so I don't think I'll see this in the theater.
Just saw it. I wish I hadn't read anything about it.
It's good. I liked it better than the first Spider-Man, though not as well as the second-but it's in a whole different class from garbage like the batman and superman movies.
Overall it had a lot of character moments, even if for me they didn't always work as well as the second film. The action scenes were great, and once again more or less flowed form the story and were easy to follow. It still blows my mind that in most films it's hard to follow two guys punching each other (tons of cuts, and no sense of where anything is), yet in Spider-Man it's easy to follow, despite all these super powers and fighting in 3D!
Since I liked most stuff about it, here's my complaints:
*SPOILERS
[hr]
-The costume. Strangely, Spider-Man's costume looked worse than in the first two films. It looked a little on the cheesy side-more like if we tried wearing a (well made) Spider-Man costume. No idea why they changed it!
-The coincidences. I agree with reviews that there were some dumb coincidences...however I don't think there were THAT many, and I don't think they were any worse than in lots of films. The ones I can think of are the symbiote (sp?) crashing to Earth practically on top of Peter, Peter trying to rip it off right next to a church bell, the professor immediately knowing all this info about the symbiote, and the semi-random final fight.
-Venom. He isn't as poorly done as the reviews all say, but they are right that he isn't half as much fun as he should be. He doesn't replace Peter's clothes, you don't really get any sense that Peter's way more powerful with it (Peter just says "the power" or something...and that's about it). You get some sense of him being changed by it, but it's not as effective as in the comic or show (though not as bad as the reviews made it out to seem-even the "Jazz" scene wasn't actually bad).
-They (apparently) killed off Eddie Brock and Venom!
-They killed off Harry! I loved Harry, and I liked his arch in this movie. I *LOVED* super hero Harry at the end of the film, and I loved his cool ninja look. I really wanted more of him in the future, and instead they kill him off too.
-I still don't really like the casting of Tobey Maguire. This is terrible maybe, but he's just a bit too goofy looking. Peter's not the coolest guy ever, but he could be a LITTLE better looking than Tobey (sorry Tobey!)

Other than those issues, I am looking forward to number 4 with basically as much enthusiasm as I looked forward to this...and that's an accomplishment right there I think.

He doesn't replace Peter's clothes, you don't really get any sense that Peter's way more powerful with it (Peter just says "the power" or something...and that's about it). Venom is always going to be problematic character to handle when you're doing a new telling of the Spider-Man story because you can't really recreate the origins of the comics version.
"Spidey gets transported to an alien world with other heroes and villains by a powerful alien seeking to understand good and evil, as part of a huge crossover. His costume gets ripped up, so he gets a new black one that boosts his power level. However, after he gets back to Earth, the costume turns out to be an intelligent alien symbiote that is messing with his mind and taking over his body when he sleeps, so he has to get rid of it."
I've got my fingers crossed that they don't decide to have more villains in the fourth movie. That was what happened with Batman & Robin.
I liked it despite some flaws. I don't like how they had Sandman kill Uncle Ben. I don't even read the comics and I knew that couldn't be right. Emo Peter was ridiculous, but hilarious. Also I don't know how Pete and MJ's relationship could possibly last. Also more Venom is needed! I don't know where Spidey 4 is going to go after this. Probably the next villain should be The Lizard.

Yeah. I actually got most of my Spider-Man knowledge from that mid-90's Spider-Man animated show. After I later learned the real plot lines, I was impressed with how well they worked stuff in to the show.
Venom on the show came to Earth on a space shuttle, and gets on Peter when the thing crashes near (some bridge in New York that I should know but don't). Okay, that parts not terribly reaslistic, but... Peter rescues the crew, or at least what's left of them, and gets this oily goop on his costume. They don't make a big deal of it though (which is cool).
From there the whole thing progresses fairly slowly-much slower than the movie-and of course you can really tell how much more powerful he is, and it shape shifts clothes and neat-o things like that.
They already crammed too much stuff into this as it was, and it's getting uncomfortably close to the "revolving villain" thing from those hideous batman films. Venom should have been an entire separate film. Ideally he could have gotten the "black costume" in one film, and not really had negative side effects until the next film...maybe just hinting that something was off, or having the dreams or something.
I noticed in the credits for Spider-Man 3 that his professor is actually the guy who becomes The Lizard, which is kind of cool that he's at least been given SOME screen time prior to it happening.

I liked it, maybe a bit too long, but
