"it's a mad, mad, mad, mad world. "
Stanley Kramer argued with himself as to whether or not she should have added a fifth "mad."

I can still remember watching that as a kid, and how I had laughed myself silly!

My all-time favorite movie, is: "The Sound of Music" ("Do, a deer, a female deer; Re, a drop of golden sun; Mi, a name I call myself; Fa, a long, long way to run....."), but it nearly got replaced with "Rent", when I saw it ("Five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes; Five hundred twenty five thousand moments so dear. Five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes. How do you measure, measure a year?").

My other all-time favorites (though, I have so many) are Rambo 1 and 2 (didn't like 3, so much), and Terminator 2.

LOL You gotta love the dichotomy!!

Mine are all over the map as well and the list is long. I couldn't pick only one. A few in no particular order:

I've Heard the Mermaid's Singing (1987). A Canadian film starring Sheila McCarthy. An obscure movie that I loved when it came out. I was still a teenager at the time. It's about a loner with an active imagination who lives in her own world.

Once Upon a Time in the West (1968) a Sergio Leone "spaghetti western" masterpiece.

Bliss (1985 Film) directed by Ray Lawrence. A surreal love story. The main character ends up seeing others through a lens that he wishes he hadn't but learns that his newfound perception leads to love and truth.

Some others:

Dune
Harold and Maude
Mystery Train
Highway 61
True Stories
Stop Making Sense
Repo Man
Breakfast Club
Uncle Buck
Planes Trains and Automobiles
Bourne Identity
The Good, The Bad and the Ugly
It's a Wonderful Life
The Awful Truth (1937) with Irene Dunne
The Philadelphia Story
The Unbearable Lightness of Being
A Room With a View
Princess Bride'
Five Easy Pieces
The Misfits (1961)
From Here to Eternity
Broadcast News
The Great Escape
The Holy Grail
The Life of Brian
Young Frankenstein

I have to stop now. I could go on and on.

I've seen so many of Gilliam's films, and I love them so much, but I still haven't seen Brazil

I still need to see Tideland, The Brothers Grimm, The Fisher King, and Adventures of Baron Munchausen, too.

...not sure if I watched the entirety of Lost in La Mancha or not...looking forward to the Don Quixote re-attempt =)
