I've heard that Kurt Cobain was an aspie.

I read an article last summer in Entertainment Weekly about Mike Myers, and as I'm reading it I'm thinking "wow, this sounds like he has Asperger's", and then it had a quote from a close source that said he has AS tendencies. Think about it: he has a clear vision in his mind of how he wants his characters and movies to come across; he's very stubborn and butts heads with directors and costars who have differing views; if things don't go his way, he throws a tantrum and storms off to his trailer to be alone.

It's been mentioned elsewhere about Quentin Tarantino having Asperger's. He tends to avoid eye contact in interviews, and he's also talked about having a huge collection of board games based on TV shows.

I'm sure there's lots of speculation (if not actual confirmation) about Philip K. Dick having Asperger's.

I'm also struck by the fact that so many of these people that have (or are highly suspected of having) Asperger's are people I've been fans of most of my life (long before I'd ever even heard of Asperger's), so I'm wondering if I somehow sensed a connection with them ("these people are like me") and that's what drew me to them.

Based on Tarantino's encyclopedic knowledge on basically every movie ever made, I'd say he's a pretty good candidate for AS. Also, he butts heads with people a lot (it has to be THIS way, HIS way and he won't change) and something about how he dated a girl for like weeks (as an adult) but they didn't have sex... they just played boardgames and went to the movies.

I've heard both Thomas Edison and Alexander Graham Bell probably had AS, which to me illustrates that people with AS may be unorthodox in their approach but, often such things lead to great ideas, even to invention like lightbulbs and telephones and more..

Anyone see the Quentin Tarantino interview on Jonathan Ross this weekend? (UK BBC) I had no idea he might have Aspergers before seeing it, but now think he must be.

Eye-contact, hand gestures and the monologue like tendencies where pretty clear, but at one point he missed some fairly subtle humour and seemed to get quite irate about it.

Afterwards, I was in awe of the guy; if he doesn't know he's AS he's done an amazing job of just getting on with his life, fitting in, and not allowing himself to be held back. Oh, and of course, becoming a top director. What an inspiration...

Quentin Tarentino as a possible Aspie? That sounds interesting indeed if it turns out to be quite accurate.Well, I've also felt that Tim Burton another movie director might possibly have AS, but, mind you though this piece of conjecture is what it is merely conjecture at the moment..Still, there are a great many people both in normal life and other areas that wind up finding he/she has AS or has known for quite some time but, merely tried to hide it in some meaningful way. Personally, I think it is not being yourself if, you try to hide whom you are however, I can see that many people in this society don't take kindly to people with strange fascinations or eccentricities that are quite profound..

I've always been a big fan of the Norwegian group A-ha and I've seen one or two interviews where Morten Harket, the lead singer, has shown a few Aspie traits. For instance, he will spend ages getting a particular mug for his girlfriend and also talks very philosophically.

i'm not sure if these have been mentioned but Hans Christian Anderson (author of the little mermaid) and Bill Gates (Multi-billionare and owner of Microsoft Corporation) have been confirmed as Aspies and Satoshi Tajiri (creator of Pocket Monsters/Pokemon) is suspected to be an Aspie although not confirmed

I wouldn't be surprised if Satoshi Tajiri was an Aspie... Just because it seems like a lot of aspies are really into Pokemon.(i used to be absolutely OBSESSED as a kid.. now, at 21, i still play the video games)

Someone mentioned Ian Curtis, and i have thought that he might have been an aspie before also. I love Joy Division...He has a monotone voice, and their lyrics always seemed to have a sense of isolation.

House...Oh, we're talking about real people?

I do wonder about Jeffrey Donovan after listening to the Burn Notice season 1 director's commentary, where he said he likes to live as the characters he's acting as (something that got Gabrielle Anwar arrested when she foloowed his lead, according to same commentary).

But the one that really seems aspie to me is John Lennon. Nowhere Man, which he said came to him after he couldn't come up with a song idea after hours of trying, and he finally thought he was a real nowhere man.
