My favorites (though some aren't strictly horror):

Underworld
Bram Stoker's Dracula
Evil Dead series (of course)
Shaun of the Dead
Nightwatch (too bad the American DVD is dubbed!)

David Lynch's cult horrors are supposed to be pretty good, like Lost Highway or Eraserhead. I haven't seen those though. I'm renting Lost Highway and Jacob's Ladder for halloween...

I'm not sure if this is a cult classic film but I liked the first Leprechaun movie.

Jacob's Ladder is my all-time favorite. Angel Heart is great too.

I watched some of the original and all of the remake or the ring, and by rights, it shouldn't be scary, but it was. It was over a month before i could sleep with the lights out, and even then i had to keep on looking behind me in case someone was there. It probably didn't help that i have a tv in my room.
It was just the thought of something coming out of the tv and killing you, scary, and the faces, the first dead girl is as far as i got on the original.

Theres an early movie by Reter Jackson(Lord of the Rings guy) called "Braindead" which you have to see, it's hilarious and gross at the same time.
I don't know if it's a cult or even a horror, but i suspect it's both.
It's the only film that has made me gag, the bit with the mother and the ear-ring(have a thing about eating stuff).
Plus, it has an amazing Flymo scene, best use ever.

Re-Animator! :D And Bride of Re-Animator. Although they're really black comedy, not horror.

Anything by Italian director Dario Argento: Suspiria is a must see.

Lots of vampire movies, mostly good, some B grade - Lost Boys, Blade, Dracula 2000, etc

A few zombie movies like Dawn of the Dead and Land of the Dead (remakes are good), but why do walking corpses need to eat live human flesh?

Cannibal Holocaust was a good movie. Wasn't too scary, atleast not to me, but despite it's name and reputation it was a really good movie. The animal killings were honestly the only thing that kind of bothered me.

It's Peter Jackson, not Reter Jackson. In some places (like the US) the film is called "Dead Alive." (Just saying this because some people in the US have tried renting "Braindead" only to find out it's a totally different film! Heheh.) Having not seen the film, I can't vouch for its greatness, but I have heard from many that it's really good. It's supposed to be one of the most graphic movies ever despite having a sweet heart--something like a precurser to "Shaun of the Dead," a "zom-rom-com."

I saw "Jacob's Ladder" on Halloween and I have to agree--amazing film. I love horror movies with human touches.
