Soldier (1998) in high school I felt like this guy
The Way Back (2010) sad movie, endurance
Groundhog Day (1993) I wish sometimes I get do-overs until I can get it right like this guy.

Just got finished watching Awake.
Starring Anakin Skywalker, Hayden Christiansen, the morale of the story seems to be, don't trust your friends, don't trust women, and only your mommy loves you.
I've seen better. But it did have interesting, unexpected twists.

To the movie Awake 2007

here is a comment made on the imdb board about the movie, the question was why people dislike the film. I thought it was funny

Quote:
jealousy..

because Jessica Alba is in it.

and the better job she does acting the more they are required to hate.

Females hate her for how good she looks.

Males hate her for how ugly their wife/girlfriends look in comparison.

that about sums it up.

Full Metal Jacket. I had never actually seen it before, the first half is definitely the best part of the movie though despite being pretty f**** up.

My dad, who went through USMC boot camp during Korea, said that movie was the most accurate depiction of basic training he's ever seen.

I just saw Abraham Lincoln vs ZOMBIES. It's actually a decent mockbuster if you like that sort of thing. Bill Oberst JR gives a great performance as Zombie killer in chief. Definitely low budget fun.

Yesterday, I saw Broken City, the new movie directed by the Hughes Brothers.

Despite the predictability in the movie, the cast managed to pull off good performances.

Mark Wahlberg should play tough guys more often and Russell Crowe should more often play bad guys.

Didn't that have Bela Lugosi as one of the beast men?

Yes, it did. I recognized his voice.

The Beaver (2011) - Mel Gibson with a split personality that appears to talk through his hand puppet, a beaver
Tower Heist (2011) - Ben Stiller, couple of other comedians in there too
The Adjustment Bureau (2011) - How a couple try to stick to their own fate rather than the fate decided by others
Footloose (2011) - a modern remake of the original Footloose. I thought it was good.
The Three Musketeers (2011) - But there are 4?
Honey 2 (2011) - I like the way they dance, mesmerizing
Chocolat (2000) - A woman that opens up a chocolate shop in a small French village. Everybody being sceptical and all... but opens up soon to the idea.

"Sleeping Beauty" - the difference between soft core porn and an art film is that in the art film, the sex is unpleasant. This is pretentious and unbelievable stuff.

"The Man Who Knew Too Much" - the good version with Peter Lorre (1935). Criterion did a very good job of restoring this one.

"Forbidden Games" during WW2, two children cope by creating their own cemetery for animals. That description hardly does the film justice. Very good. Would make a nice double feature with "Grave of the Fireflies" although you'd probably have to kill yourself afterward.

"Red Hook Summer". - I don't know why I watch Spike Lee's films. This one only starts to get interesting about 1 hour and 20 minutes in and it's too little too late. It would be nice if Spike Lee made more of an effort to tell a good story instead of trying to pound some message into the viewer's head. It would also be nice if he hired actors instead of the cardboard that passes for the young boy and girl in the film.

Django Unchained (2012) - Quentin Tarantino movie, Pulp Fiction dialled down to fit a Western. I think he pulled it off.

"Enter The Void". - when the main character gets killed 30 minutes into a 2hour and 20 minute film, I kind of want him to stay dead. Here, he goes for a rather long out of body experience. I guess this is the sort of thing that works for some people, but not so much for me. It has some interesting visuals, but it's kind of limited when it comes to story telling.

Mostly it's about awful people doing things I have no interest in.

Tarantino is bad a** enough to pull anything off. Look at Inglorious Basterds.
