I was keeping a close eye on Japan as they were planning to introduce a law to ban sexual images of underaged children... and it seems to have passed... exempting anime and manga and video games...

Not sure how to feel exactly... but I guess Studio DEEN, Brainbase and other ecchi/yuri/yaoi-centric studios can relax now, as well as fans of that sort of work...

Just watched Hanasaku Iroha: Home Sweet Home, a 2013 movie epilogue of the 2011 tv series.

P.A. Works have really topped the high-quality art and animation that was so consistent and beautiful to watch in the series. Hana, Miko, Nako, Tomoe and the other Kissuisō employees were just as fun and interesting to watch. Cute, but not pointlessly so - it felt natural, especially as Hana discovered more about her mother's past (hinted at, but not explored in the series) Wonderful.

Recently caught the OAV of Natsume Yuujinchou: Itsuka Yuki ni Hi (Once Upon a Time in Winter). Just as sweet-natured and pleasant as the main series, following Natsume's encounter with a snow creature he initially confuses for a Yuki-onna (a sort of snow maiden spirit).

Nana

People rave about it for a reason. It has complicated characters and an interesting story. Some parts of it knocked the wind out of me, so I waited until I didn't have much external stress before watching the last set of discs. The ending left a lot open to interpretation, so I'll go ahead and write a happy one in my head.

The Kawai Complex Guide to Manors and Hostel Behavior

I found this show hilarious and unpredictable.

Mushi-shi sequel series part one (part two due this fall)

It continues to meet the high standards set by the original: clever stories, great music and beautiful art.

Really glad you enjoyed Nana -- it was one of my earliest "grown-up" anime. I just hope Ai Yazawa recovers from her undiclosed illness so she'll be able to pen the end of the series. Encouragingly, she did draw a short Junko's Room edition since getting out of the hospital, but we'll just have to see what happens...

And yerse, it may have been a seven-year wait, but Mushi-shi Zoku-Sho was definetely worth it. Hiroshi Nagahama is on top form.

One Week Friends pulled off that rare anime feat of a deeply satisfying ending to the series. I anticipated that one more than any other this season, and it consistently delivered.

Been a bit disheartening with some anime ending, but there have also been some pretty good stuff, not that I would call much amazing. Kawai Complex has been super fun and was sad to see go, Kamigami has been a big surprise for its genre, and although not ended quite yet Sidonia has had a really good episode.

The Comic Artist and His Assistants

Surprisingly, for a sexual-harassment-in-the-workplace-themed show, it didn't really push my buttons. I found the assistants well-rounded characters, and the comic artist seemed like the plot device, made the butt of most of the jokes. YMMV, but I find it intriguing, and I would like to know more about the author.

I have to go with my all-time favorites being "(Vision of) Escaflowne" and "Digimon" (particularly Seasons 1 and 3, but 2 is OK).

No Game, No Life was brilliant and earns the anime of the season for me. The show has fit into the area as an otaku show from the fact that it has a number of references to anime or manga, there are ecchi parts, and the leads are NEETs, but it has far exceeded expectations for such a genre, it has been incredibly fun and yet smart. I might mention two shows that I think have relevant are Problem Children Are Coming from Another World, Aren't They?, and The Pet Girl of Sakurasou, Problem Children because the premise is rather similar and it adds quite a bit of the fun that series had. And Sakurasou as this shares the same director and leads, who bring their chemistry over, Sorata's VA voicing Sora, and Mashiro's VA voicing Shiro, quite the coincidence.

The characters play various games to move forward that can go from something that creates a magical hypothetical world to run rampant, to doing a simple coin flip, and both get as much attention for actual depth. The games are filled with lots of comments that hint towards their winning strategy and it can be quite exhilarating to finally see all the pieces come together to master plans. Pretty much all the characters are good; Sora, Shiro, Steph, Jibril, etc, and with Steph especially the show has quite a lot of heart despite her often falling into the role of a butt monkey. There are some very good design decisions too.

though i agree with said statement, the minor incestuous loli sub theme may put a damper on it for most people :P

Although it is clear that at least he does not think that way sine what you can see in the game against Warbeasts, he is just super close with her and Shiro mostly wants most of his attention and thus gets jealous. The ED song, which focuses on them, is so sweet.

Starting Clannad and waiting for Knights of Sidonia to come out on Netflix.

I've played a bit of the Clannad visual novel before but only like maybe 1-2 hours in (before said computer with it on it got the hard drive wiped). Time to see what everyone loves so much.

You poor soul, I hope you will be ready for your heart to be thrown around like a hacky sack, I partially joke as it is one of my favourite series with a perfect mix of comedy and drama, a masterpiece in my opinion, the second season more so but it is tough.

And I actually just finished Knights of Sidonia, despite the character models looking a bit difficult to look at, it is actually a very good watch, I found it very satisfactory.
