I watched "Beasts of the Southern Wild" last night. I am still trying to figure it out and understand what all the hub-bub was about. Then I re-watched Pitch Perfect to make me feel better.

The Black Dahlia.

Just saw the Monsters University one.

Was it any good?

Did you like it? I ask, because I had seen the movie, and read the book The Black Dahlia by James Elroy, and liked the book quite a bit better.

The movie has its own charms. The book is amazing. I guess I like the movie for different reasons than the book. I read that Brian De Palma has a three hour directors cut of the movie. But the studios won't allow him to release it.

That truly sucks - I'd love to see the three hour director's cut!

star trek into darkness - i couldn't resist, even if i was pretty sure that i would not like it very much. and apart from benedict cumberbatchs voice (who could read the phone book to me and i would be happy) it was actually dull.

Pulp Fiction. Then I watched some of the special features.

Despicable Me 2

Gru {Steve Carell} is recruited by a crime-fighting organization to fight a new villain and falls for a red-headed agent who recruits him.

Though Despicable Me 2 was like a kiddie version of the Mission Impossible movies, this sequel was funny and entertaining.

Robin Hood (1991)

Not to be confused with Kevin Costner's Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, released the same year. That movie is notable for its overblown silliness and bad acting. This one isn't really notable at all. It's just decent. Patrick Bergin is decent. Uma Thurman is decent. Jurgen Prochnow is decent. The direction is decent. Decent, fine, okay, unremarkable. I'm almost disappointed that it wasn't worse.

There's some good dialogue ("She's to be married, not tortured." "What's the difference?") but the screenplay is filled with stupidities. Why doesn't Robin recognize Marian when she disguises herself only by dyeing her hair, even though he's seen her on several previous occasions? Why don't the soldiers who are looking for Robin search the horse-drawn cart they come across, instead of taking its owner's word when he says he hasn't seen anyone?

It's fine. It's just nothing I'll ever want to see again.

World War Z. Thought it was great. If you like spectacular all-action films about Zombies,this is one of the best.
While it's a serious film,it does have its tongue in cheek moments,like the Zombies are stimulated by noise
and wouldn't you know people keep tripping over things at inopportune moments and forgetting to turn their phones off while trying to keep quiet.
I had an extra interest in seeing it as the opening sequence in "Philadelphia" was actually shot in Glasgow,the city I work in.

Spring Breakers.

Dark, bizarre Art House movie about girls in a happy clappy religious school obsessed with going on spring break. So three of the four commit armed robbery for the money. Arriving in Florida, they get involved drugs, sex, and rock n' roll - and end up in jail. They get bailed out by creepily overly friendly hood, Alien (James Franco). The three of the four who stay find themselves caught up in Alien's live for the moment, outlaw life style, and love it - till they find themselves thrown into the reality of an ugly turf war. Nothing quite like chicks in bikinis and pink ski masks dancing ballet with automatic rifles in hand. Great movie.

My sentiments exactly, only Johnny Depp and Eva Green save it from being a flop.
