there have been soooo dam* many sucky shows over the years, but i cant remember them all, but for now i guess i have to say "Barney, and Teletubbies"

Now there's an even worse one: Boobah. It has even less content than Teletubbies. It has no content. These obese teletubby-like things bump into each other and then they make a farting noise. :x Then some kid says "Look what I can do." and appears in a flash of light. Then he stands on one foot for 7 seconds, turns right 90 degrees, stands on one foot for 7 seconds, turns 90 degrees to the right, and repeats the process. It's so dumb.

On a Macintosh computer: To put the accent over the "e" as in cliché, hold down the "option" button and then push "e "and release both buttons. Then press the letter "e" again.

Yes they are worth it. You learn lots of new words. I love that. I won the school spelling bee with the word "judiciary" last year. The years before I had lost with the words "announcer" and "caste". But they don't have spelling bees after 6th grade here.

I didn't learn any new words except "borealization" (flying north for the winter... or summer... why would you fly north in winter unless you wanted to freeze to death? Stupid birds...)

She said her grandfather told her all that.

There's a name for that:

stuck pig syndrome, noun
The tendency to use the same metaphor inappropriately in other situations. For example, taking the common metaphor "bleeding like a stuck pig" and saying "I'm sweating like a stuck pig" or "That thing is leaking like a stuck pig."

My husband talks like that all the time. Drives me up a wall! 8O

I watch very little TV and only stick with shows that have loving, wholesome people I'd want to hang around, because it's the kind of people I sort of need to see consistently, with no cursing, sex, violence, etc.. So can't really list an actual show...

But in late '86 or early '87, there was this horrid documentaary on some network called America abouta Societ takeover of the U.S. - and it could have been *so* could, 10 hours of a "new American REvolution," and so on. But, what did they do insteaad? Stood around and talked for hours, till the finale when the lead guy was shot as he tried to make a broadcast to all the American people. It was like, "Hello, you just wasted millions of lives here making us sit around for nothing!"

Most of you might not know what I'm talking about, but I was huge into politics then and had lots of ideas about how it could have happened - and so I basically wrote some journal entries in English that year (senior in high school) where I basically wrote a summary of what happens "After America" as I termed it. It told of a revolution that swept the U.S. and the world, but lots of funny things happening that mirrored real life with names from the news like Dennis Connor (winner of the America's Cup yacht races recently then) leading a bunch of navy men to an improbable victory in Havanna Harvor and charing up San Juan Hill :-)

Danger Mouse is cool! I had loads of danger mouse stuff when I was a kid, and was obsessed with spy stuff for a while. I digress..... we still get Danger Mouse in the UK, on Boomerang (a Cartoon Network channel, not sure if you have that one) 8)

I still remember the final days of Where in Time is Carmen. They discontinued it in 1999 to make room for ZOOM and I was really mad. But ZOOM has turned out to be much better than Carmen. My favorite ZOOMers, boy and girl, are Mike and Caroline. The ZOOMers appear to be kind and wholesome kids, and they do a wonderful job on the show.

I've found that when you lose a good television show, there will ALMOST always be a stupid one in its place. But don't get discouraged. There will ALWAYS be another good show out there somewhere.

Tee hee!

Dunc - I'll see that Danger Mouse and raise you a Bananaman! Oh, the '80s flashbacks...

But as far as the worst TV show goes, it HAS to be Passions - that stupid soap opera with the witches and the special effects and the - d'ah, I'd better stop there. I'm not even a soap fan and I wish they'd bring back Another World.

Your Critical Zed

PS: Boomerang does exist here in the states. It's on DirecTV and probably some cable lineups. I'm too busy watching Adult Swim on Cartoon Network to watch, though.

Bummer! We can't get it. Oh well.
I really do have better things to do than watch Danger Mouse.

"A stitch in time saves nine" means not to procrastinate to fix a problem. If you have a hole in your jeans, which can sometimes take 10 stiches, you have to so it up. If you only sew one stitch, and it takes ten stitches to fix it, you still have nine left to go, but that number will increase if the rest is not repaired right away.

Actually it means that if you put off a small job it will only get worse by the time you get round to doing. e.g. a small hole could be fixed with one stitch if you do it right away, but if you leave it the hole will get bigger and will take longer and need more stitches.

The 700 Club. Batty Pat is so crazy he's actually pretty amusing in his scarier moments.

All That is the most overrated show on TV. It is supposed to be funny, but it has hardly any humor. It basically makes gullible kids make fools of themselves on television. It claims it's funny, and it was voted "Best TV Show" on this year's Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, but I don't see anything funny or good (or "all that") about it, personally.

:!: Mich :?:

All That was fantastic 5 or so years ago when it still had the original cast. After they lost Lori Beth Denberg everything started going downhill.

700 Club is pretty amusing sometimes. I watch it for the wacky closed captions, mainly, but yeah, Pat does get scary when you get him on a political topic.

As for my least favorite show? Not sure, but Barney and Friends is definitely up there, as are the Nick Jr. shows that have been mentioned before. Dora? Blue's Clues? They simply pale in comparison to the likes of The Elephant Show, David the Gnome and Pinwheel.

And Jerry Springer's somewhere in the list as well, along with most of the talk shows of the same ilk. Same goes for most of the reality shows out there.

Alright, Ryoga! From Shigoku to Paris to Yokohama but never where he needs to be!
